Rafael Jose de Brito has been quietly putting together a fantastic season in 2023, and he picked up some steam this weekend in Eugene, Oregon. Plus, Chase Dougherty put on a show for his home-state crowd, the Velocity Tour crowned a few winners, and more. Miss a moment of the action this weekend? Here’s what happened around the PBR.
On the Unleash The Beast…
Rafael Jose de Brito earned the first premier series event win of his career this weekend in Eugene, going 3-for-3 – including a 91-point ride to cap things off – to improve to No. 5 in the Unleash The Beast standings.
The win also allowed Brito to take over the No. 1 spot in the Rookie of the Year standings. Not bad for a weekend of work!
While Chase Dougherty now lives in Texas, he’s originally from Canby, Oregon. Dougherty used his home-field advantage well, winning Round 1 in Eugene.
Also in Round 1, Chase Outlaw notched his first premier-series ride in nearly three weeks.
Meanwhile, on the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour…
Chase Wimer earned the Round 1 win at the Bluff City Classic…
…but Mason Moody ultimately took the event win.
In Cedar Park, Texas, Griffin Smeltzer went 2-for-3 to earn the event win.
In the Touring Pro Division…
