CEDAR PARK, Texas – As competition got underway Friday night inside H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas, Chase Wimer (Corning, California) rode supreme, winning Round 1 of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour event to surge to an early lead at the PBR Cedar Park Chute Out.

Wimer travelled to the Lone Star State ready to take on Boomerang (Oxford Cattle, LLC). In a perfect pairing, the Californian matched the powerful animal athlete jump-for-jump en route to the 8-second whistle, scored a round-winning 87 points.

The top score garnered Wimer 28 Velocity Global points.

Josh Frost (Randlett, Utah), however, is hot on Wimer’s spurs. Finishing second in Round 1, Frost is within a mere 0.5 points of the top spot ahead of Championship Saturday.

Frost brought the crowd to its feet when he rode Pickle Moonshine (Shuler Bucking Bulls) for 86.5 points.

The score garnered Frost 18 Velocity Global points.

As one of eight riders to cover their draw in the opening round, Junio Quaresima (Meridiano, Brazil) is currently third at the PBR Cedar Park Chute Out.

Quaresima bested Go Blue (Richardson Lane & Cattle Co.) for 85 points to collect 17 points in the race for the 2023 PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Championship.

Davi Henrique de Lima (Candido Mota, Brazil) delivered an 84-point score aboard Marciano (CO Cattle Co./Bob Whisnant) to finish fourth in Round 1.

Lima left the H-E-B Center Friday evening having earned 16 Velocity Global points.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Elizmar Souza Jeremiahs (Decatur, Texas).

Jeremiahs outlasted Country Roads (Just For Kicks/J-M/DD) for 83.5 points. He netted 15 Velocity Global points.

Action for the PBR Cedar Park Chute Out will conclude with Round 2 and the championship round on Saturday, Feb. 18. Action gets underway at 7 p.m. CST.
