FORT WORTH, Texas – In front of an electric Thursday night crowd in Fort Worth, Texas, at Cowtown Coliseum, no rider was more dominant than Garrett Jones (Devers, Texas). Sweeping both rounds of competition at the fourth iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase, Jones won the event, along with a crucial 62 Velocity Global points.

Jones got off to a hot start in Round 1, recording what would be the high-marked ride of the event when he dominated Going Topless (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) for 88 points.

As the last man to leave the chutes in the championship round, Jones not only defended his position atop the leaderboard, but earned his second round win in as many attempts when he reached the 8 atop Savage (Blake Sharp/Michael Floyd/Koe Wetzel/High Voltage Cattle) for 87.5 points.

The Texan left his home state venue having earned a much needed 62 Velocity Global points as he chases his first PBR World Finals berth this May.

Mason Moody (Letcher, South Dakota) was second, garnering 33 Velocity Global points.

The South Dakotan first put points on the board in Round 1 when he rode Red Kingdom (Universal Pro Rodeo) for 87 points.

Moody’s hopes of victory, however, ended abruptly in the final round when he was tossed by Firetime (Blake Sharp/Chris Utz/Garrett Carey) in a quick 1.26 seconds.

Marcus Mast (Middlebury, Indiana) and Trace Brown (Stephenville, Texas) tied for third compliments of matching 86.5-point scores in Round 1.

Mast topped Bad Actor (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls), while Brown outlasted Spotted Demon (Universal Pro Rodeo/Rachel & Dustin Powell).

Each rider left Cowtown Coliseum having earned 20 Velocity Global points.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Alex Cerqueira (Iguatemi, Brazil).

Cerqueira’s 85.5-point ride atop Peaky Blinder (Rafter G Rodeo Co.) in the first round of the PBR Stockyards Showcase earned him 15 Velocity Global points.

In the bull pen, Stand Off (Universal Pro Rodeo) and Firetime bucked supreme, crowned the Bull of the Event after each animal athlete posted an unmatched 45-point bull score.

Stand Off registered the marks in Round 1 when he bucked off Justin Ethridge (Buford, Georgia) in 2.33 seconds, while Firetime was awarded the points in the final round in his trip with Moody.

The PBR Stockyards Showcase continues Thursday, February 23. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
