FORT WORTH, Texas – Most folks and fans alike assumed adding two more teams to the already electrifying PBR Camping World Team Series would only further bring out the best in the world’s most talented cowboys.
But after seeing how dramatically the 10-team league has evolved in its third session of summer series fun … all we can say is WOW.
Sure, the Carolina Cowboys and Kansas City Outlaws enjoyed standout seasons, staying atop the standings for a majority of the season.
But after seeing the Outlaws prevail as the 2024 regular season champions, joining the Austin Gamblers in becoming just the second team to even earn said honors, the star-studded team has earned its No. 1 seed and corresponding round 1 bye game Friday night in Las Vegas during the 2024 PBR Teams Championship.
Of course, the Cowboys will also get the opening night off via their No. 2 seed.
But surrendering the regular season championship honors after leading the pack for 11 of 12 weeks has to sting Head Coach Jerome Davis and company. Fans will have to wait until Saturday’s slate in Sin City to see the fan-favorite units get to work.
And who knows – maybe we’ll see the racing-striped group face off against the orange and black contingent as the postseason gauntlet progresses: A match fans of any squad would likely love to experience.
The Florida Freedom, Texas Rattlers, Austin Gamblers and Missouri Thunder are joining the pair of top dawgs in receiving automatic berths to T-Mobile Arena and all that the epic playoff tournament holds means six of this season’s eight postseason teams have been decided.
Which leaves the Nashville Stampede, Oklahoma Wildcatters, Arizona Ridge Riders and New York Mavericks to duke it out during the industry’s first-ever Ride In Round inside South Point Arena Oct. 17.
At the same time, we’re not here to only celebrate the postseason and all of the suspense that comes with next weekend’s showdowns.
We’ve got plenty of rider and team-based feats to celebrate. We’ve had 90-pointers all over the place, some of the highest bull scores in PBR history to remember and superstars emerging left and right!
Knowing the 5-on-5 circuit expanded from 10 to 12 teams in 2024 means there’s that much more to celebrate at the end of the league’s third regular season slate.
So, we’re turning this one up a notch, embracing a bit of a rapid-fire approach as we look back at some of the biggest feats and streaks from the action-packed summer slate.
With the 2024 PBR Teams Championship set to invade T-Mobile Arena Oct. 18-20 and first-ever Ride In Round preparing to take over South Point Arena for the extremely dramatic “win or go home” showdown Oct. 17, we’re taking a quick look back at some of the numerical takeaways from the 12-event regular season stretch during a special edition of By the Numbers!
Just Can’t Wait 2 Be King: Ending the season with a league-pacing 19-9 record, the Kansas City Outlaws officially stamped their place in PBR Teams history by becoming the second team to secure said honors. Matching the Austin Gamblers’ record-setting 19-win mark set during the 2023 campaign, the Outlaws needed a final head-to-head showdown against the Carolina Cowboys to settle matters. But when you consider it took the very last day of regular season action to crown this year’s champions … it sure seems like the 2024 PBR Teams Championship, and associated Ride In Round, are set to be action-packed and drama-fueled like never before!
73-for-140: The Outlaws and Cowboys battled throughout the 12-week regular season campaign as they attempted to secure the 2024 regular season title. The Cowboys may may have paced the pack for the first half of the season … but knowing the Outlaws put together one of the flashiest runs in 5-on-5 history, winning 11 of 13 en route to capping off their successful second-half stretch, means they were riding some bulls. More than any other squad this time around, eventually ending the regular season with 73 conversions in 140 attempts. Averaging a qualified ride in more than half of their outs this season (boasting a circuit-best 52.14% ride percentage), they outworked the eventual No. 3 seed Florida Freedom by six conversions (67-for-140), ending the season with six more rides than Florida and seven more than Carolina.
6,329.25: They weren’t just finishing efforts and declining re-rides in order to get the job done on any given night, either. We’re talking about quality rides. The kind of conversions that helped the Outlaws end the season with a whopping 6,329.25 combined aggregate score, 582.5 more points than the Freedom, who managed 5,746.75 as the league’s second-place scorers. Knowing the Outlaws had three different riders finish the regular season ranked in the Top 10 of the MVP race, including Sandro Batista, Cassio Dias and Koltin Hevalow, it’s not much of a surprise the team finished as high as they did in several statistical categories, both team and individual.

2024 PBR Teams MVP: In a summer series where the likes of Sandro Batista and Brady Fielder took significant steps towards achieving all-star status, it was none other than Florida Freedom star John Crimber who captured the 2024 PBR Teams MVP honors. Out-riding more than 100 different cowboys who entered the chutes at one point or another this season, the talented 19-year-old put the finishing touches on his standout campaign by going 3-for-4 last weekend during the regular season finale.
Ending his rookie PBR Teams campaign with a league-leading 26-for-40 slate, he was a regular- finisher for his Freedom squad, ever successful as the contingent’s closer. But it was his flashes in his Shootout Round attempts that may have ultimately paved the path for the 19-year-old to out-perform each of the tour’s other talents. He may have ended his first summer series as the top-ranked cowboy. But when it came to efficiency, not even Crimber could beat out the Texas Rattlers’ ace in Brady Fielder.
Great 8 Award: Brady Fielder didn’t stand out amongst just his Texas Rattlers team in 2024. Fresh off a career-best No. 8 Unleash The Beast ranking from his elite 2024 slate of work, the lanky Australian turned things up a notch once more during the summer series. The closest man to Crimber in the MVP race when things were said and done, trailing the youngster by just 147.25 points, he completed his season with the second-most qualified rides on tour, officially 24-for-34 on the season, he didn’t appear in as many Shootout Round games as the 19-year-old. But he sure made the most of his outs all season long.
While it was Crimber who ultimately collected the $100,000 bonus for MVP honors, Fielder still managed to pocket a fine $25,000 after earning the league’s first-ever Great 8 Award. Presented to the cowboy with the highest riding percentage on the season (amongst riders who have attempted at least 20 outs), Fielder was the ONLY cowboy to ride above the 70% mark within the entire 5-on-5 landscape, finishing his season having covered an unthinkable 70.59% of his bulls.

Top 6: When the third season of camaraderie-driven action began back in July, 10 teams entered. And as the ever-electric season switches gears to the postseason, just six teams have automatically qualified for this year’s season-culminating showdown, including the Kansas City Outlaws, Carolina Cowboys, Florida Freedom, Texas Rattlers, Austin Gamblers and Missouri Thunder. While each of the six teams have ventured into the drama-filled playoffs before (albeit with the Freedom operating as the former Oklahoma Freedom), they had drastically different rosters for the most part than the groups they competed with in the past. Experience can go a long way, but so can the reminder of what it feels like to come up short previously. Knowing the No. 8-ranked Nashville Stampede shocked the world back in 2022 means these teams are far from their end goal.

Bottom 4: With next week’s Ride In Round looming, set to decide the final two seeds for the 2024 PBR Teams Championship, two teams will eventually find themselves dancing inside the elegant T-Mobile Arena, competing for hundreds of thousands of dollars and the largest gold buckle in professional sports. The other two? They’ll be heading home, officially eliminated from postseason ambitions. Donning the same format as next week’s Last Chance Games, each of the four teams will be pitted against each other in a 1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 1 setup, with the event’s two highest-scoring teams earning the final two berths to the promised land. AKA there’s never been a better time to show up and show out. Knowing one ride, or merely one point, could decide which teams get a chance to keep on riding and those who are taking early flights home Friday morning means fans should 100% be present in South Point Arena Oct. 17, with some additional Challenger Series Championship entertainment baked into the night’s slate!
60s & Climbing: If the bulls were dominating game play throughout the first half of this summer’s slate, then the second half belonged to the cowboys, because the pack has been ON FIRE over the course of the last month or so.
Initially resetting the tour record for most conversions in a single PBR Teams event back in Anaheim, California, the boys teamed up for an epic 62-ride weekend inside Honda Center as riders were determined to turn the tides. However, the pack decided to turn things up an additional notch the following weekend, quickly moving the bar from 62 rides to 65 during an unforgettable showcase inside Greensboro Coliseum. The bull power hasn’t dissipated one bit. But the will to ride seemed to have doubled, and then some, the way the tour’s cowboys strung together another productive weekend. While the circuit enjoyed some theatrics down in Fort Worth, Texas, during its Week 11 slate, the best bull riders in the world saved a quality effort for the regular season finale, once again finishing over the 50% ride mark, eventually besting 63 bovine athletes. Talk about a rank finish!
98.25: Speaking of records … It’s not every day that folks get to witness history in the making. But the more we hang out with a pair of World Champions in Man Hater and Cassio Dias … it sure seems like records are being shattered left and right. And by now, it’s rather apparent they were both born for stardom, teaming up for a third time in RECORD-SETTING fashion!
Dancing for an epic 98.25 points a few weekends back, the duo posted the second-highest score in PBR history, trailing only the legendary Jose Vitor Leme and Woopaa in the record books. Earning a nice check from PBR’s friends at Michelob ULTRA for having the rankest ride of the summer, Dias continues to rack up the accolades during his second season in the 5-on-5 series.

Grinding for 90s: Over the course of the league’s first-ever 12-event schedule, the tour’s riders combined for a whopping 40 90-point rides, meaning the tour averaged 3.33 per-event, or essentially just over one rank ride per night! Which is a sign rider talent is growing and teams are getting more and more comfortable after seeing the pack provide 29 regular season 90s in 2023 and 36 in 2022. Fans in Nashville, Tennessee, and Kansas City, Missouri, each witnessed the most in one event this summer, with both showcases producing a combined six 90s. Spreading the love around quite well, at least one 90 was scored in each of the tour’s 12 stops. Brooklyn, New York, was home to just one 90, with fans at each of the other 11 events witnessing at least two 90s per showcase!
Riding for 90s: When the dust settled on the third summer of PBR Teams action, nine of the league’s 10 teams ended the regular season with at least one 90-point ride to their name. The lone bunch who weren’t able to make it happen? The Nashville Stampede – Which is a bit odd when you consider they have one of the flashiest riders from the past year in Kaiden Loud. But knowing the youngster battled the injury bug throughout his sophomore Teams season meant he only attempted 18 bulls all summer.
The entire team-based breakdown of 90-pointers logged can be viewed below:
Austin Gamblers: 4Arizona Ridge Riders: 2
Carolina Cowboys: 6
Florida Freedom: 7
Kansas City Outlaws: 7
Missouri Thunder: 5
Nashville Stampede: 0
New York Mavericks: 1
Oklahoma Wildcatters: 2
Texas Rattlers: 3
It shouldn’t be too surprising that the Kansas City Outlaws and Florida Freedom paced the pack with seven 90s per squad, respectively. Carolina coming in at No. 3 makes sense as well. But it’s the Missouri Thunder’s No. 4 rank that was the biggest surprise, with Boudreaux Campbell (who earned a pair of rank marks) teaming up with Paulo Eduardo Rossetto, Briggs Madsen and Felipe Furlan in representing the red and yellow contingent on the big board.
Striving for 90s: Recording six of the team’s elite scores during his own rookie PBR Teams season, John Crimber’s campaign will forever be one to remember. Capped off by his first PBR Teams MVP honors, which he’ll receive next week in Las Vegas, the 19-year-old was the definition of “must watch television” the way he stormed into any given barn and gave his all. His small frame helps boost his scores, no doubt. And the idea his father, Freedom Head Coach Paulo Crimber, knows exactly what kind of bulls he’s meant to be riding surely didn’t hurt his cause either. But if there’s been a kid known for spurring and showing his bulls off more than anybody else this summer, it’s 100% been Crimber. Edging out Cassio Dias, who turned in five 90s of his own, by one epic strike, it speaks volumes knowing the budding superstar produced more end game-level conversions than the 2024 PBR World Champion. Rounding out the podium of Top 3 efforts, Sage Steele Kimzey managed four 90-pointers during his second season riding with the Carolina Cowboys.
And if we had to guess … these are going to be three of the names you’ll hear once we get to T-Mobile Arena, likely adding a 90 or two to their already decorated resumes!
Fans can stay tuned to PBR.com and @PBR social media channels throughout the remainder of the bye week as the tour prepares to embrace Sin City Oct. 17-20 for the 2024 PBR Teams Championship!
