Behind the Lens: Unleash The Beast Johnstown 2024

Seemingly unstoppable, No. 1 Cassio Dias captured his second consecutive Unleash The Beast event title at PBR Johnstown, courtesy of a flashy 3-for-4 showcase. Collecting 158.5 UTB points for his victory, he first went the distance in Round aboard The Judge for a quality 89.25 points. Seeing his perfect start to the season come to an end in the second round, he rallied on Championship Sunday, eventually covering Strong Arm for 86.25 points to punch his ticket to the short round. Selecting a showdown against Cy Young in the short go, the world’s top-ranked rider sealed the deal once again, logging a tour-best 91.75-point journey atop the bovine win once again.

Capturing the Round 1 honors via his 90.75-point out dancing with Watch Out, Cody Jesus enjoyed a productive start to his weekend. Continuing his momentum on Saturday, he improved to a perfect 2-for-2 courtesy of his 86.25-point strike aboard Black As Coal and kept things rolling early on Sunday. Starting his weekend 3-for-3 after besting Twisted Feather for 87 points, he nearly completed a flawless performance in the championship round, but was called for a slap after dancing with Red Scorpion for 2.25 seconds.

Rounding out the podium, Austin Richardson endured a similar 3-for-3 start before being flung to the dirt in the final round. Initially paired with Casper in the opening round, Richardson dominated the matchup for 88.25 points to get things started. Later winning Saturday’s Round 2 courtesy of an 88-point conversion atop Matthew, he brought the same effort into Championship Sunday’s first draw against Bad Hart. Exiting the head-to-head dance with 86.75 points, he selected a date with Ivy League in the short round, but was dispatched in a brief 1.12 seconds to finish the event in third place.
