Behind the Lens: PBR Teams Outlaw Days

With the second event of the 2023 PBR Camping World Team Series season officially in the books, it was the Kansas City Outlaws who exited the second-ever Outlaw Days with the first homestand title of the summer. Becoming just the third squad in PBR Teams history to win an event on home dirt, it was a total team effort which captured the win for the J.W. Hart-led team, but it was none other than veteran Marcus Mast who sealed the deal during the dramatic Extra Outs tie-breaking format. Recording a 90-point journey atop Hoka Hey to secure the victory, Mast forced an electric T-Mobile Center to explode in approval as he completed the 3-0 weekend with the team’s first-ever event win in walk-off fashion.

Extending their perfect win streak to five, the Austin Gamblers nearly captured consecutive event titles to begin the year, but saw Austin Richardson hit the dirt in 5.3 seconds during the league’s second-ever Extra Outs, thus paving the way for Mast’s 90-point event-clinching scenario. Going 3-0 overall in Kansas City, the Gamblers exited the contest ranked No. 1 as the last remaining undefeated team in 2023.

Seeing the No. 2 overall selection in the 2023 PBR Teams Draft Josh Frost post an encouraging 2-for-3 record, in addition to a flashy debut from rookie Trey Kimzey, the Carolina Cowboys posted a 2-1 showing, dropping only its matchup against the Gamblers, to round out the podium finishes at Outlaw Days. The Cowboys will now head into Anaheim, California, ranked No. 2 at 4-1 overall.
