SACRAMENTO, Calif. – John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) put an exclamation point on his 4-for-4 performance at Golden 1 Center on Sunday afternoon, sealing his first event win of the season with a clutch conversion in the championship round of the Ariat PBR Sacramento presented by Cooper Tires.
Knocking down a rematch effort against Tigger in the short go, the bull he selected with the second pick in the championship round bull draft, the 20-year-old cowboy registered 88.65 points to surpass his good friend Clay Guiton (Cherryville, North Carolina) for the top spot on the event leaderboard.
Celebrating on the dirt after flinging his helmet high into the air, the Florida Freedom star in the separate PBR Teams league completed his flawless run with one just one out remaining. Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) was unable to survive the requisite 8 moments later, thus solidifying the second Unleash The Beast (UTB) victory of Crimber’s young career.
Crimber punched his ticket to the fourth session via an 87.30-point journey aboard Hot Sauce as the first cowboy to go 3-for-3 Sunday.
Originally besting Creedmore Precision for 87.50 points Friday night, he improved to 2-for-2 by topping Hookie Monster for 88.40 points as one of 26 riders to convert during Round 2, the most in a premier series round since 2009.
Crimber advanced to No. 3 in the standings in earning 163 UTB points for the win. He now lurks 70 points behind No. 1 Kasel, who finished in third place as the top-scoring cowboy with a 3-for-4 record in Sacramento.
“Mr. 90 Point” won Saturday’s second round via a 90.55-pointer dancing with Sour Patch, sandwiched between an opening night conversion atop Wild Mustard (84.55 points) and an 8-second effort on Walk Hard in Round 3 (88.40 points). Kasel earned 99 UTB points for his third-straight Top 5 finish. He was in visible pain limping off after wrecking out in the championship round.
The only other man to ride all four of his bulls inside Golden 1 Center was Clay Guiton, who came just .15 points short in the aggregate en route to serving as runner-up for the second-straight weekend.
One of just three riders to convert during the championship round, the Carolina Cowboys standout won the exclusive session, marked 89.75 points challenged by American Made.
Besting each of his first three bovine opponents in Black Tie (87.30 points), Apple Juicing (87 points) and Dirty Honey (87.65 points), Guiton has earned qualified rides on six of his last seven outs as he remains one of the hottest cowboys on tour, now the No. 2-ranked rider.
Manoelito de Souza Junior (Itamira, Brazil), who took home fourth-place honors and improved to the No. 26 rank, logged his best finish at a premier series event since 2022 via a quality 3-for-4 showing. Ending his third UTB appearance of the season just 1.35 points behind Kasel on the event leaderboard should provide plenty of momentum for next weekend’s showcase in Salt Lake City.
Cort McFadden (Novice, Texas), who joined Crimber and Guiton in converting during Sunday’s short round, rounded out the competition’s Top 5 placements a mere .15 points behind Souza Junior with a matching 3-for-4 slate.
The PBR Unleash The Beast next rolls into Salt Lake City’s Delta Center for the PBR Salt Lake City presented by Busch Light Feb. 6-7.
