Key Storylines

This weekend brings new faces to the draw, with UTB debuts from Elijah Jennings and Wyatt Vineyard, joined by Velocity Tour standouts Andy Guzman, Wyatt Rogers, Kase Hitt, Grayson Cole and Manoelito de Souza Junior, all getting their shot on the sport’s toughest stage.

Jess Lockwood, coming off his first premier series win since 2020, will sit out Sacramento after being injured on dismount in Tampa. The two-time PBR World Champion went 3-for-3 aboard Raider, Bullistic and Lights Out to climb to No. 8 in the standings, but his title chase pauses here as he eyes a return in Salt Lake City. He enters the weekend 122 points behind the lead.

That lead still belongs to Dalton Kasel, who backed up his Milwaukee win with a steady fourth-place finish in Tampa. Kasel covered Crazy Sox and Tchoupitoulas before coming up short against Eyes On Me, holding a 43-point edge as the pressure builds with every round.

Sage Steele Kimzey continues to move forward. The seven-time PRCA champion went 2-for-3 in Tampa, riding Show Biz and Sunrise before meeting his match in the reigning World Champion Bull Man Hater during the short round, keeping himself firmly in the title mix.

Clay Guiton is riding with momentum. After a Round 1 stumble against Yo Mamma, the Carolina Cowboys standout fired back with big rides on Chico and became the first rider to ever cover Sober Child, winning the short round and climbing to No. 4, now within striking distance of Julio Cesar Marques.

The Monster Energy Team Challenge rolls on Friday night with two matchups:

New York Mavericks vs. Nashville Stampede
Carolina Cowboys vs. Austin Gamblers

The Carolina Cowboys vs. Austin Gamblers clash is a championship rematch with history attached — the same two teams that met in the 2024 PBR Teams title round in Las Vegas, where Carolina came up short before storming back with vengeance to win it all in 2025. The New York Mavericks arrive red-hot, with three riders inside the top 15, as the Nashville Stampede make their first Monster Energy Team Challenge appearance of the season, adding extra intrigue to the night.

The 41-hour trek from Tampa to Sacramento was just the beginning — now the long haul gets real in California, as riders fight to stay hot, stay on tour, survive the cuts and build momentum.
