NEW YORK CITY – Capping a thrilling hold-my-beer championship round showcasing five spectacular 90+-point rides and five lead changes, Sage Steele Kimzey put up the biggest one – his fourth consecutive score on the weekend – to win the PBR Monster Energy Buck Off at the Garden Presented by Ariat.

With his first career victory in New York City, Kimzey surged to third in the Unleash The Beast standings with 217 points through four events. The only cowboy to go a perfect 4-for-4 on the weekend, he posted 87.05 points on Snuggles in Round 3 on Sunday before choosing Lights Out first in the short go draft and then delivering the season’s highest score of 92.05 points for the win.

Finishing second, Julio Cesar Marques vaulted to the lead in the UTB standings with 236 points by scoring 112 points to overtake Marco Rizzo, who fell to second. Marques and Rizzo are teammates on the New York Mavericks in the separate PBR Teams league.

After entering Sunday 2-for-2 but bucking off Big Dawg in the long round, Marques bounced back in the Championship Round with a 91.10-point ride on UTZ BesTex Smokestack. The 21-year-old was angling toward his second event win until Kimzey’s final monster score.

Clay Guiton finished the weekend strong with two rides on Sunday to secure third at the Garden. Guiton rode his way into the final 12 with 85.35 points on Holy Roller in the third round. In the short go, he scored 91.10 points on Big Macto take home the bronze.

Callum Miller, the leader heading into the final day of the season’s first three-day event, made his way into the Championship Round in spite of bucking off Socks In A Box to start the day, taking a shot to the head with his jaw wired shut following a bad wreck in Chicago in December. He rode the full eight on Hoobastank for 89.85 points to finish fourth.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Leandro Zampollo with three straight rides to close out the event after bucking off Friday night. Zampollo began Sunday with an 85.65-point ride on Bucktown and put a bow on an outstanding weekend with a 90.85-pointer against Bex Red Eye.

Keyshawn Whitehorse, the only rider beside Kimzey who entered the Championship Round 3-for-3, bucked off his final bull to finish eighth.

PBR sold out all three days at “The World’s Most Famous Arena” after selling out both days in TD Garden in Boston a week ago.

PBR’s premier series continues Jan. 16–17 with Busch Light PBR Milwaukee presented by Cooper Tires at Fiserv Forum starting at 7 p.m. CT both nights, carried live on Paramount+.
