KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Saturday night’s theme of upsets spilled into Sunday’s matinee event in Kansas City as New York Mavericks’ star Hudson Bolton stepped into his first weekend of 2025 PBR Teams competition and delivered a walk-off win to help his No. 10 New York Mavericks upset the No. 1 Florida Freedom 350.75-267.5 Sunday afternoon at T-Mobile Center to close out PBR Teams: Outlaw Days.
The back-and-forth, heavyweight tilt featured seven conversions overall, but it was the Mavericks who logged one more score thanks to 8-second efforts from Bob Mitchell (88), Julio Cesar Marques (85.25), Mauricio Gulla Moreira (90) and Bolton (87.5). Freedom MVP frontrunner Thiago Salgado (88.75), Joao Lucas Campos (91) and John Crimber(87.75) made it quite the fiery battle for Florida, but three bulls weren’t enough for Kody Lostroh’s fired-up New York team. The red, white and blue Freedom fell to 23-9, while the Mavericks improved to 7-25.
The No. 3 Arizona Ridge Riders continued the trend by defeating the No. 2 Austin Gamblers 258.5-81.5 as Head Coach Colby Yates and company continued to improve their odds of securing one of three available first-round byes at the approaching 2025 PBR Teams Championship in Las Vegas (Oct. 24-26). Both Arizona and Austin now hold matching 21-11 records following the contest, alongside the Texas Rattlers, with Austin currently owning the tiebreaker of team aggregate score. Arizona heads into their annual homestand next weekend with four wins in their last five games.
Everton Natan da Silva got things started quickly for the Ridge Riders, scored 85.75 points on the team’s opening out before Eduardo Aparecido completed his perfect 3-for-3 weekend with an 87.5-point strike moments later. Riquelme Santos rounded out contributions for Arizona via an 85.25-pointer, while Kaique Pacheco (81.5) provided Austin’s lone qualified ride on the day. Without injured captain Jose Vitor Leme, the Gamblers were winless in Kansas City.
Attempting to avoid the looming 3-Way Ride-In Game in Las Vegas, which will feature the league’s bottom three-ranked teams at the end of the regular season, the No. 7 Nashville Stampede kept the upset rally alive by defeating the No. 5 Carolina Cowboys 252.25-87 during Sunday’s third contest. Alan de Souza (85), Daniel Feitosa (85) and Rogerio Venancio (81.75) did the heavy lifting for Nashville, whose four-game regular season winning streak is the longest in franchise history, while Cooper Davis provided Carolina’s lone conversion (87) as the Cowboys were officially eliminated from the possibility of a Top 3 finish and corresponding first-round bye.
The closest battle of the day came during Sunday’s fourth game, as the Missouri Thunder captured a 177.25-168 decision over the Oklahoma Wildcatters. Paulo Eduardo Rossetto (89) and Maverick Smith (88.25) provided Missouri’s conversions during the Thunder’s opening two outs, while JaCauy Hale (79.25) and Eduardo Matos (88.75) struck late for the Wildcatters. Missouri improved to 14-18 with the win, protecting the team’s one game lead over the No. 7 Nashville Stampede as Oklahoma dropped to 11-21.
After winning on Saturday night, the hometown Kansas City Outlaws dropped a 175-85.5 decision to the No. 4 Texas Rattlers, falling to 11-21 on the season. Leadoff man Koltin Hevalow converted for the Outlaws, but Kansas City’s final four riders were unable to go the distance. MVP contender Brady Fielder (88) continued his standout campaign as the Rattlers’ opener teamed up with fellow Aussie Qynn Andersen (87) to deliver the win to Texas, now one of three teams at 21-11 heading into next weekend’s PBR Teams: Ridge Rider Days regular season finale in Glendale, Arizona.
Next up for the PBR Camping World Team Series is Ridge Rider Days, the 12th and final event of the 2025 regular season, set to take place at Desert Diamond Arena starting at 7:45 p.m. MT Friday, October 10.
