GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Florida Freedom claimed their fifth consecutive victory to open up Cowboy Days presented by Mountain Claws on Friday night to hold tight to the top spot in the 2025 PBR Camping World Team Series Standings with the Arizona Ridge Riders, who won big for the sixth time in the past seven games, hot on their tail.
In a nail-biting game dominated by the bulls, the league-leading Florida Freedom improved to 16-5 with a narrow 87-84.25 victory over the 6-15 Nashville Stampede. Alan de Souza led off for the Stampede with 84.25 points aboard Down Payment for an early lead that wouldn’t last long. In the bottom of the second, João Ricardo Vieira scored 87 points on Sizmagraf to put Florida into the lead. Nashville could have won the game on a 73.5-point ride by Gustavo Luiz da Silva in the fifth, but Coach Justin McBride declined the score to take a re-ride opportunity for another chance that resulted in a no-score.
On the flipside, in a slugfest between two teams coming in with 15 wins, the now 16-5 Arizona Ridge Riders rode four bulls to defeat the 15-6 Austin Gamblers 347-257. In scoring 86.5 points on Barbarosa, Arizona’s Riquelme Santos became just one of six riders in PBR history to start his career 5-for-5. The Ridge Riders also got scores from Everton Natan da Silva (85.25 on Gaucho), Eduardo Aparecido (87.5 on Good Riddance), and Luciano De Castro (87.75 on Socks In A Box).
The Gamblers opened strong with Sage Kimzey putting up 83.5 points on Demonic. Ednelio Almeida scored 86.25 on his re-ride on Ugly This, while Jose Vitor Leme also recorded 87.5 points on Wild Card, but Austin’s three rides again fell short in another ride-filled game as Arizona won for the sixth time in the last seven games.
The red-hot Texas Rattlers won their sixth game in a row, improving to 14-7 on the season with a 176.25-0 victory over the 3-18 New York Mavericks. Lead-off man Brady Fielder matched up early with Hoobastank, lasting all eight for a score of 88 points and an early lead. The ride was his 15th of the season tying for the league lead. On a re-ride attempt, Braidy Randolph rode Lights Out for a game-high 88.25 points.
The Oklahoma Wildcatters (8-13) defeated the Kansas City Outlaws (8-13) 258.75-250.75, staving off a late Outlaws’ comeback. For the second time in as many games, the first rider of the home team earned a ride with Wingson Henrique da Silva putting up 86.5 points on Buffalo Heifer. Josh Frost extended the Wildcatters’ lead with 87.25 on Rockville, and Eduardo Matos scored 85 on Pearl Snap to round out Oklahoma’s scoring run. Kansas City’s three straight rides by Eric Henrique Domingos (87.75 on UTZ BesTex Smokestack), Julio Cesar Marques (76 on Coal Train), and Heitor Santos Ferreira (87 on Home Slice) weren’t enough in the late comeback.
The Carolina Cowboys reigned victorious to open their home stand with a 169.75-84.25 win over the Missouri Thunder. Both squads now own a 9-12 record. In the bottom of the first, Cooper Davis broke a 1-for-13 slump to go for 85.75 points on Bucking Bill to put the Carolina Cowboys in a good position early. Maverick Smith put up 84.25 on the board for Missouri after lasting eight on White Command to reel it back within a point-and-a-half in the next frame but the Thunder were then shut out their final four outs. Although the Cowboys had clinched the game headed into their final out, Trey Holston stamped the game with an 84-point ride on Mighty Mouse in his first ride for the team.
The second day of competition at Cowboy Days continues Saturday at 7:45 p.m. ET in Greensboro, North Carolina at the First Horizon Coliseum.
