GREENSBORO, N.C. - For the seventh consecutive game, the Florida Freedom walked away victorious, this time in a 174.5-86.75 win over the Texas Rattlers to improve to 18-5 as the Rattlers fell to 14-9 in the Cowboy Days presented by Mountain Claws finale on Sunday afternoon at First Horizon Coliseum.
Florida set the tone as leadoff man Thiago Salgado scored an 87-point ride on Nachos, his 17th of the season, to continue to lead the 2025 MVP race. João Lucas Campos earned the game’s highest score in the third out with 87.5 against Rocket Man to put the game to bed. Florida remains a game up on the Arizona Ridge Riders in the league standings.
For the first time in history, the Carolina Cowboys (11-12) went perfect at home in Greensboro, defeating the No. 3 Austin Gamblers 177-173.75 in walk-off fashion on Sunday. Down by two rides, the Cowboys dug into the lead with an 88.5-point ride by Derek Kolbaba on The Kraken. After three unsuccessful outs, the game rested on the shoulders of Clay Guiton with his re-ride attempt, and the Carolina native diffused Bomb Diggity for eight seconds, 88.5 points, and his second career walk-off win.
The New York Mavericks (5-18) also benefitted from dramatic, bottom-of-the-fifth heroics – their second straight win coming when Marco Rizzo went for 8 on Wingnut to walk off the Oklahoma Wildcatters 260.5-246.5 to conclude a thrilling back-and-forth game. Oklahoma fell to 8-15 with the loss, despite scores from Wingson Henrique da Silva, Guilherme Valleiras and Cort McFadden. After snapping the league’s longest losing streak at 10 games on Saturday night, New York took the lead in the first, 87.25-76.5, when Bob Mitchell rode Bex Red Eye. Mauricio Gulla Moreira tacked on 86.5 more against Mississippi Mercenary before Rizzo’s 86.75-point game-winner.
Falling behind after two rides, the Nashville Stampede improved to 7-16 with a late comeback to defeat the Kansas City Outlaws (8-15) 256.25-174.25 to close out Cowboy Days and snap a seven-game losing streak. Kansas City held a 174.25-0 lead ahead of Pablo Soares’ ride on Foolish Pride for 83 points. Rogério Venâncio continued to close the gap with 86.25 on Peanut, setting the stage for the winning ride by Cody Jesus for 87 points on Muddy Jake.
The Arizona Ridge Riders rebounded from a loss Saturday night, in dominant fashion, winning 346.75-86.75 against the Missouri Thunder to improve to 17-6 as the Thunder fell to 10-13. Elzisclay dos Santos tamed I’ll Make Ya Famous for an 86.25-point ride as Eduardo Aparecido tacked on 86 more points right after on Blue Silhouette. While the third out wasn’t fruitful for Arizona, Luciano De Castro rode Hunting Trip in the fourth for the team’s third ride at 87 points. Keyshawn Whitehorse closed out the game with 87.5 atop Hoobastank. The No. 2 Ridge Riders are a game behind the Florida Freedom in the 2025 league standings.
