Austin Gamblers sweep Rattler Days to close in on Florida Freedom, only trail by one game in the PBR Camping World Team Series standings

Texas Rattlers close out home stand with victory.

By Taylor Riemersma

FORT WORTH, Texas – Without injured captain Jose Vitor Leme, the Austin Gamblers (21-8) inched closer to the top spot in the PBR Camping World Team Series by beating the Oklahoma Wildcatters (10-19) on a Dalton Kasel walk-off ride while the No. 1 Florida Freedom (22-7) fell to the Nashville Stampede (10-19) to close out Rattler Days at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth.

Oklahoma took an early 87.5-point lead over Austin as Wingson Henrique da Silva bested Walk Hard to lead off the game, followed by Tate Pollmeier’s 87 points in the fourth. After Austin’s Kaique Pacheco, the 2018 World Champion, rode Woody for 87.75 points in the second, Dalton Kasel, needing 87 for the win, bested Let’s Roll for 88 in the final ride of the game to walk off the Gamblers’ fourth straight win, sweeping Fort Worth.

The Arizona Ridge Riders improved to 19-10 on the season with a 260.25-172.5 victory over the New York Mavericks who fell to 6-23. Arizona tallied three qualified rides by Everton Natan da Silva (85.25), Riquelme Santos (87), and Keyshawn Whitehorse (88) who had the highest score of the game. New York’s pair of rides by Bob Mitchell (85.75) and Julio Cesar Marques (86.75) fell just short on the day.

Improving to a 15-14 record on the season, the Carolina Cowboys defeated the Missouri Thunder (12-17) 173.5-86.5 to get back to their winning ways. Adriano Salgado conquered Electric Kitty for 88.5 points followed by Clay Guitonbesting Kill Switch for 85. Following Paulo Eduardo Rossetto’s opening 86.5 points on Yo Mamma, the Thunder was blanked.

The 10-19 Nashville Stampede pulled off the second-biggest upset of the season, taking down No. Florida Freedom (22-7) 262.5-174.75 to close out Rattler Days. Nashville saw Alan de Souza (86.5), Gustavo Luiz da Silva (86.75), and Kaiden Loud (89.25) all best their respective bovine counterparts. The Freedom’s scores from Elizmar Jeremias (87.5) and Yan Victor Cunha (87.25) weren’t enough, and Florida, still No. 1 in the league, was upset for the second consecutive Sunday.

The Texas Rattlers defeated the Kansas City Outlaws to ride to 19-10, three games behind Florida, as the Outlaws dropped to 10-19 ahead of their homestand next weekend. Both teams faced a rank lineup of bulls, each mustering only one ride. In the end, it was Daniel Keeping’s 89.25-point ride on Oyster Creek Brawler that beat out Alison dos Santos’ 82 against Smokey.

Next up for the PBR is the Kansas City Outlaw Days at T-Mobile Center starting at 7:45 p.m. Friday, October 3.
