Austin Gamblers defeat Carolina Cowboys during 2024 PBR Teams Championship game rematch to conclude Gambler Days with win on home dirt

Florida Freedom, Austin Gamblers, Arizona Ridge Riders exit weekend with 10 wins, as Florida takes sole possession of first place following 11-for-15 weekend.

By James Youness

AUSTIN, Texas – The hometown Austin Gamblers (10-4) concluded the weekend inside Moody Center with a 2-1 record by defeating the Carolina Cowboys (6-8) 173.75-88.25 during Sunday’s final game of 5-on-5 bull riding.

Veteran Lucas Divino bested Woody for a game-high 88.75 points to give the Gamblers some early momentum. Carolina’s Ethan Winckler eventually answered with an 88.25-point response aboard I Hate You, but the conversion served as the Cowboys’ only qualified ride, thus granting Austin the win. Clay Guiton attempted to set a new league record with an eleventh-straight conversion Sunday but was sent to the dirt by The Kraken in 6.13 seconds.

Andrei Scoparo went on to add an 85-pointer while giving the crowd another reason to celebrate the defending PBR Teams Champions during the squad’s fourth out.

The Gamblers exited the weekend as one of three teams with matching, league-pacing 10-4 records, currently ranked No. 2 overall and trailing only the red-hot Florida Freedom (10-4). With overall team aggregate serving as the first tiebreaker within the regular season standings, the Florida Freedom (3,184.50 points) retain an advantage over both the Austin Gamblers (2,831 points) and Arizona Ridge Riders (2,367.75 points).

The high-scoring Freedom put up two 90-point rides in recording an electric 356-181.75 win over the Texas Rattlers (8-6). With their fourth-straight victory, the Freedom completed a perfect weekend inside Moody Center with a combined 11-for-15 showing.

Two-time YETI World Champion Man Hater returned to the dirt for the first time since the 2025 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast and got the show started early in the game, pairing up with Brady Fielder of Texas for a league-season-high, career-best 93.75 points. The epic mark also serves as the third-highest ride score recorded in PBR Teams history.

Despite Daniel Keeping adding an 88-pointer atop Uncle Rico in the second frame, the Rattlers failed to record another qualified ride for the duration while Florida eventually rode four of their five bulls, including strikes from Thiago Salgado (85.25 points), Joao Lucas Campos (90.75 points), Elizmar Jeremias (90.25 points) and John Crimber (89.75 points). Crimber, last season’s MVP, moved up to No. 2 in this season’s race.

The Kansas City Outlaws (7-7) ended the Oklahoma Wildcatters’ (4-10) three-game win streak during Sunday’s opener courtesy of an electric walk-off win from Heitor Santos Ferreira. Teaming up with Koltin Hevalow (86.75 points on Buck) after earning a quality 85 points for his fifth-frame conversion, the Brazilian secured Kansas City’s second win over its past seven games. Guilherme Valleiras recorded Oklahoma’s lone conversion, a game-high 88.75-point score atop Yo Mamma, as the Wildcatters departed Gambler Days with a 2-1 record on the weekend.

The Nashville Stampede (5-9) ditched a two-game skid to begin Gambler Days via a 174-170.25 victory over the New York Mavericks (3-11) on Sunday courtesy of another Cody Jesus bottom-of-the-fifth walk-off ride. Joao Henrique Lucas got New York on the board early with an 84.5-point ride atop Margin of Error before seeing his teammate Marco Rizzo go the distance for 85.75 points on Cutting Edge Sugar Daddy. But Jesus was able to add on to Anderson de Oliveira’s 86.75-point conversion dancing with Torched via a walk-off strike on Hoka Hey for 87.25 points to clinch Nashville’s first win of the weekend. It was Jesus’ third walk-off winning ride in the past two weekends.

Sunday’s third session featured the Arizona Ridge Riders (10-4) ending a three-game losing streak thanks to a tight 87-86 win over the Missouri Thunder (6-8). Everton Natan da Silva’s 87-point conversion aboard Velvet Revolver during the game’s first out ended up being the difference maker, with Thunder rookie Jett Harkins improving to 4-for-6 on the year via his 86-point ride on UTZ BesTex Smokestack for Missouri.
