No. 3 John Crimber ties for Round 1 win on a sold-out opening night of the PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast – Eliminations to gain ground in the race for the World Championship

Earning 60 Unleash The Beast points, and coupled with buckoffs from No. 1 Dalton Kasel and No. 2 Brady Fielder, Crimber now trails the top spot by 423 points.

FORT WORTH, Texas – As the 2025 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) World Finals: Unleash The Beast got underway Thursday night in front of a sold-out crowd inside Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, No. 3 John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) rode a cut above the rest, tying for the Round 1 win in Eliminations to gain crucial ground on the top spot in the race for this season’s World Championship.

Crimber earned the round win despite battling injuries. Following a lingering hand injury earlier in the season, Crimber broke his collarbone in the stretch run and was stepped on by a bull in the practice pen this past week.

“I don’t think it’s me. Every time I’m feeling down, my lord and savior Jesus Christ picks me back up and carries me,” Crimber said from the dirt after tying for the round win. “He carries my cross with his. I just have to thank him. It’s gonna be a fun week for sure.”

The teenage phenom, who was the No. 1 draft pick in 2024 for the Florida Freedom in the separate PBR Teams league and then won the season’s MVP award, made his way to the Metroplex trailing No. 1 Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) by 483 points.

Crimber nodded with confidence on Spunky Energy (Cornwell Bucking Bulls) and brought the capacity crowd to a deafening roar when he reached the requisite 8 for a round-best 88 points.

After 45 riders had left the chutes, Crimber finished in a three-way tie for the Round 1 win, netting 60 Unleash The Beast points.

Crimber was the only rider inside the Top 5 to cover Thursday evening. No. 1 Kasel was launched by Good Riddance (Sterk Bucking Bulls) in 2.96 seconds, No. 2 Brady Fielder (Clermont, Queensland, Australia) was tossed by Lap Dancer (Flying S/Dozier Cattle Co.) in a heartbreaking 7.93 seconds, No. 4 Sage Steele Kimzey (Strong City, Oklahoma) was bucked off by Big Lean (Blake Sharp/Huff Bulls/Hanks) in 2.97 seconds and No. 5 Luciano De Castro (Guzolandia, Brazil) was bested by Electric Kitty (Moore Cattle/D&H Cattle Co.) in 5.81 seconds.

As a result, the young Texan climbed within 423 points of No. 1 Kasel as he looks to avenge his runner-up finish to the World Championship from his rookie season in 2024.

Crimber tied for the Round 1 win in Eliminations alongside the Nashville Stampede’s Kaiden Loud (Kaufman, Texas) and New York MavericksHudson Bolton (Milan, Tennessee). All three riders delivering matching 88-point rides are under 20 years old.

Loud went the distance aboard Woody (Flinn Cattle Co.), while Bolton conquered July (Leffew Bucking Bulls), each also collecting 60 Unleash The Beast points.

Loud climbed from No. 20 to No. 14 in the standings, while Bolton moved from No. 26 to No. 24.

Koltin Hevalow (McAlester, Oklahoma) was fourth, collecting 40 Unleash The Beast points.

The Kansas City Outlaws standout rode What’s Poppin (T&M Services/Hilton Bull Co.) for 87.5 points. He rose from No. 24 to No. 21 in the standings.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was the Carolina CowboysAdriano Salgado (Batatais, Brazil). The affable Brazilian topped Tijuana Two-Step (Blake Sharp/Michael Floyd) for 87.25 points to net 36 Unleash The Beast points.

Salgado is now ranked No. 27 in the world after making his way to Cowtown Coliseum ranked No. 29.

Five additional riders also converted in Round 1 of Eliminations. Julio Cesar Marques (Tatui, Brazil), Clay Guiton (Cherryville, North Carolina), Daylon Swearingen (Piffard, New York), Jose Vitor Leme (Ribas do Rio Pardo, Brazil) and Boudreaux Campbell (Crockett, Texas) will all begin the second day of Eliminations with a score on the board.

During PBR World Finals – Eliminations, each of the 45 competing bull riders will attempt one bull nightly. Following the four rounds of action, the Top 15 in the Unleash The Beast standings and Top 5 in the Eliminations aggregate not already advancing will directly punch their ticket to the 2025 PBR World Finals – Championship on May 17-18 in nearby Arlington at AT&T Stadium, which will crown the 2025 World Champion and World Finals event winner.

Round 1 of the 2025 PBR World Finals – Eliminations also included an ABBI (American Bucking Bull Inc.) Classic competition, featuring 24 of the sport’s up-and-coming 4-year-old bovine athletes competing for their share of a $51,000 prize purse.

Constant Payne (Kasel/Payne/Flying S), co-owned by No. 1 Kasel, was marked 89.36 points to win the Classic event title, his first event win of the 2025 season. Tossing Sandro Batista (Pedra Preta, Brazil) in 0.56 seconds, the bull earned $14,350 for his efforts. Tigger (Spencer/Sherman/Farris) turned in a score of 88.88 points to finish second, while Buck Nasty (Chapman / Buck / D&H Cattle) was third with a marking of 88.72 points.
