Teenage phenom John Crimber wins Round 2 at PREMIER Bankcard PBR Sioux Falls, holds at No. 4 in standings

Daylon Swearingen tops event leaderboard, 2-for-2 thus far, heading into third and final day inside Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Saturday night’s capacity crowd inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center was at full volume as John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) conquered In My Blood for 89.5 points to win Round 2 at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast (UTB) PREMIER Bankcard PBR Sioux Falls, presented by Cooper Tires.

The 19-year-old, who rides for the Florida Freedom during the separate PBR Teams league and was named league MVP of the 2024 season, had a disappointing Friday night, bucking off of El Chapo in just over three seconds, thus becoming a man on a mission Saturday, winning his sixth round of the season.

Crimber was one of 16 riders in a 38-man field to record a qualified ride on Saturday night. His standout ride put him in the No. 5 spot on the event leaderboard heading into Sunday’s final rounds.

Collecting 28 UTB points for his round-winning ride, Crimber held strong to his No. 4 spot in the world standings, 43.75 points behind No. 3-ranked Sage Steele Kimzey (Strong City, Oklahoma). Kimzey, the first rider to go 2-for-2 in Sioux Falls, climbed to No. 4 in the event after channeling his inner warrior spirit to somehow stay on Hector. Both of Kimzey’s rides in Sioux Falls were ragged feats of endurance and try that scored under 80 points, but he is nevertheless a bull up on all but three other riders going into championship Sunday.

With three regular-season events following Sioux Falls remaining until the PBR World Finals in Texas on May 8-18, all eyes are focused on the gold buckle chase.

Dethroned as world leader two weeks ago in Palm Desert, California, by reigning world leader Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas), Brady Fielder (Queensland, Clermont, Australia) narrowed the distance between himself and the No. 1 position on night two of the three-day event in Sioux Falls.

Originally paired with Scarface, Fielder’s 82-point ride was deemed worthy of a re-ride by judges. Taking a gamble with his sights solely set on retaking the No. 1 spot on his journey toward his first world title, Fielder accepted and prepped for his second bull of the night.

Climbing aboard Feeds Red River, the talented Australian sailed through the air to the tune of 87.75 points. The gamble paid off with a second-place tie in Round 2 with Clay Guiton (Cherryville, North Carolina), which bumped him up to No. 8 on the event leaderboard overall.

Fielder’s high-stakes roll of the dice cut Kasel’s world lead to 32 points heading into championship Sunday.

Kasel’s second night in South Dakota did not end as well when Big Red Train twisted in the air three seconds into the out to thrash him to the ground. In noticeable pain as he limped off of the dirt, the Austin Gamblers’ man was unable to take his re-ride. Despite the bumpy night, the world leader still sits within the Top 10 of the Sioux Falls leaderboard.

Guiton’s tie with Fielder after riding Feeds Red River moved him to the second-place spot for the weekend, which began with him being traded from the Oklahoma Wildcatters to the Carolina Cowboys. The 19-year-old is stealthily creeping up the standings to now sit at No. 20.

Arizona Ridge Riders veteran Eduardo Aparecido (Govelandia, Brazil) rocketed from the chutes in Round 2 aboard Whiplash for 87.5 points, a fourth-place finish and 16 UTB points, which moved him from No. 17 to No. 15 in the standings. As Sunday looms, Aparecido sits within the Top 10 of the event.

Round 1 winner, 2022 PBR World Champion Daylon Swearingen (Piffard, New York), tied for fifth place in Saturday’s round with Carolina Cowboys teammate Adriano Salgado (Batatais, Brazil) and New York Mavericks man Mason Taylor (Maypearl, Texas).

With triple 87.25-point scores, all three cowboys earned 14 UTB points for Saturday night.

Salgado, who received a no-score after being called for a touch in Friday’s opening round, bested New Dinero on night two. He holds strong at No. 26 in the UTB standings.

Taylor, who also struggled on Friday night, redeemed himself aboard Foolish Pride. Arriving in South Dakota at No. 36 in the UTB standings, he moved up one spot to No. 35.

After winning the Monster Energy Team Challenge, presented by Camping World, for the Carolina Cowboys on Friday night with a round-high score of 90.5 points, Swearingen doubled down for the weekend aboard Bugatti. As he leads the field into Sunday in Queen City, Swearingen is No. 27 in the UTB standings.

The only other rider to go 2-for-2 thus far in Sioux Falls is Lucas Divino (Nova Crixas, Brazil), who conquered Off the Tracks for 80 points. He sits in third place going into championship Sunday.

Action for the PREMIER Bankcard PBR Sioux Falls, presented by Cooper Tires, will continue with Round 3 followed immediately by the championship round on Sunday, April 6, at 1:45 p.m. CT.
