FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 98th iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Jeferson Silva (Pontese Lacerda, Brazil) went 2-for-2 to win the event title.
In the opening round, Silva covered Wyloh 990 (Wyloh Ranch) for 82.5 points.
Tied for fourth heading into the final round, Silva roared out of the chutes for 84 points aboard CMSR 050 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) to seize the lead.
The victory netted Silva 52.5 Velocity Global points.
In second place was Grayson Cole (New Ringgold, Pennsylvania).
Cole stormed out of the gate for an event-high 87 points on Elkins 973 (Philip Elkins) in Round 1 but was bucked off by CMSR 849 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) in 3.54 seconds in Round 2 to end his bid for the event title.
The Keystone State cowboy returned home with 36 Velocity Global points.
The final spot on the podium belonged to Thomas Hudson (Dungog, New South Wales, Australia).
After bucking off Wyloh WT (Wyloh Ranch) in 5.89 seconds, Hudson rallied to make the 8 atop Train Smoke (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 85.5 points in the final round.
The bronze finish garnered the Aussie cowboy 26 Velocity Global points.
Guilherme Valleiras (Pirassununga, Brazil) and Luke Parkinson (Denman, New South Wales, Australia) tied for fourth.
In the opening round, Valleiras bucked off Mad Money (Prophet Bucking Bulls) in 6.81 seconds while Parkinson rode Elkins 100 (Philip Elkins) for 84.5 points.
The cowboys flipped fates in Round 2, as Valleiras covered Crash Cart (Stockyards Pro Rodeo/Winston/Melton Bull Co) for 84.5 points and Parkinson was bucked off by CMSR 938 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) in 1.78 seconds.
Both cowboys left Cowtown Coliseum with 19 Velocity Global points.
Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.
In the bull pen, Wild Turkey (Lee Bucking Stock) was marked 44 points for his opening round buck off of Thiago Salgado (Navirai, Brazil) in 2.54 seconds to win the Bull of the Event title.
The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, April 10. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
