SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Nineteen-year-old Clay Guiton (Cherryville, North Carolina) was the only man to go a perfect 4-for-4 at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast (UTB) PREMIER Bankcard PBR Sioux Falls, presented by Cooper Tires, topping two massive 90-point rides in the championship round to earn his very first win at the sport’s premier level.
Guiton, who was traded on Friday from the Oklahoma Wildcatters to the Carolina Cowboys in the separate PBR Teams league, rocketed from No. 23 to No. 10 in the heated race for the 2025 PBR World Championship.
“This means the world to me,” said Guiton with best friend John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) standing beside him. “It might have taken a little longer than expected at first, but I had to trust in the Lord’s plan for me. This is what we live for – when you see guys like Brady (Fielder), Dalton (Kasel) and John (Crimber), you have to step your game up, if you’re going to be here. It just motivates you to do good.”
Before Guiton rode his fourth bull on the weekend in the championship round, Magic Potion tied Cool Whip for PBR’s all-time consecutive buckoff streak at 48 after launching New York Mavericks man Hudson Bolton (Milan, Texas) in a mere 1.99 seconds.
After tying for fifth place in Round 1 courtesy of an 87-point dance with I Hate You, Guiton kept his foot on the gas into Saturday, turning in an 87.75-point score on Mouse Trap to finish second in Round 2. He remained consistent in Sunday’s opening Round 3, banking 85.25 points aboard Tijuana Two-Step.
Sitting atop the leaderboard as the championship round began as the only man to have gone 3-for-3, the lanky red-haired teen stood by as world leader Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) and No. 2-ranked man Brady Fielder (Clermont, Queensland, Australia) battled it out before him.
Fielder promptly took over the event lead by conquering Nobody for a massive 91.5 points.
The drama rose a notch as Kasel, the No. 1 rider in the world, took on the No. 1 bull, Man Hater.
Kasel had the South Dakota crowd on its feet, turning in a high-flying, monster 93.5-point ride aboard reigning World Champion bull Man Hater. The ride included a massive 48-point rider score and brought Man Hater’s owner Gene Owen onto the dirt to embrace the Texan as the talented animal won the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event title for his 45.5-point score.
“That bull’s starting to buck a lot like Woopaa, and I got along with Woopaa pretty well,” Kasel said.
With Kasel now in the event lead, when Guiton sailed from the chutes aboard Eyes on Me, the crowd erupted again as he bested the muscular animal for 87 points. Despite a lower score than Kasel and Fielder, the qualified ride put Guiton a bull up on the rest of the field, cementing a career-first win.
In addition to a check for $44,290, Guiton earned 155 Unleash The Beast points.
With three regular-season events remaining before the PBR World Finals in Texas on May 8-18, Guiton shot into the Top 10 in the standings of a heated world title race.
Bumped into second place by Guiton’s workmanlike final ride, world leader Kasel earned 125.5 UTB points for his 3-for-4 weekend in Queen City. Kasel’s second-place finish in Sioux Falls puts him 48.5 points ahead of Fielder in the gold buckle race.
Earning third place in Round 1 with an 88.25-point matchup with Simon, the Austin Gamblers’ star hit a rough patch on Saturday as Big Red Train flung him through the air after 3.19 seconds, leaving him visibly in pain and questionable for Sunday.
Seeking redemption and valuable world points in the stretch run towards the World Finals in May, Kasel gritted out a ride on his early Sunday opponent, Let Him Fly, for 88.5 points and a shared second place in Round 3 to sit at No. 5 on the leaderboard.
His auspicious matchup with reigning world champ Man Hater sealed the deal on his move up until he was dethroned by Guiton.
World No. 2, Fielder’s less-than-ideal Friday night, being bucked off by Velvet Revolver, gave way to his determination and hunt for a world title.
Hitting the gas on Saturday night with an 87.75-point, second-place ride aboard Feeds Red River, he then accelerated as he took on Buffalo Heifer in Sunday’s opening round to move into first in the round with a solid 89-point score.
Despite a temporary hold atop the leaderboard after his biggest ride of the weekend, scoring 91.5 points on Nobody, Fielder fell to Kasel and, ultimately, Guiton.
The Texas Rattlers athlete’s 3-for-4 weekend earned 109.5 UTB points for his third-place finish and leaves him 281 points ahead of new No. 3-ranked man Crimber.
Crimber, who rides for the Florida Freedom, moved from No. 4 to No. 3 in the world standings after going 3-for-4 to finish fourth.
Bested by El Chapo after a mere 3.05 seconds on Friday night, Crimber took control on Saturday night for a Round 2 win with 89.5 points aboard In My Blood.
Crimber moved into Sunday sitting at No. 5 on the event leaderboard.
Matched with Mike’s Motive in Round 3, the 19-year-old longtime friend of Guiton’s recorded an 88.5-point score to tie for second place in the round. Selecting Always Been Crazy in the championship round, his 75.75-point score gave way to a re-ride.
Paired with Light’s Out, Crimber rode to the tune of 88 points and finished the weekend earning 88.5 UTB points.
Crimber sits 16.75 points ahead of the No. 4-ranked man, seven-time PRCA world champion Sage Steele Kimzey (Strong City, Oklahoma), heading into next weekend’s showcase in Billings, Montana. Kimzey went 2-for-3 in Sioux Falls.
Rounding out the Top 5 of the PREMIER Bankcard PBR Sioux Falls UTB event was 21-year-old Oklahoma Wildcatters athlete Cort McFadden (Novice, Texas).
Having no luck against Slingin’ It in Friday’s opening round, McFadden showcased perfect form the remainder of the three-day weekend, conquering Air Shift in Round 2 for 84.75 points and Blown Away in Round 3 for 86.5 points.
Selecting Mercy as his championship-round opponent, the talented Texan turned in an 87.25-point ride.
McFadden went 3-for-4 on the weekend, earning 58.5 UTB points for a fifth-place finish, which pushed him from No. 8 to No. 7.
