Paulo Eduardo Rossetto wins career-first Unleash The Beast event PBR Albuquerque Ty Murray Invitational, moves to No. 6 in standings

Going 3-for-4, the Missouri Thunder standout stormed into The Pit for a big win.

By Mandi McCary

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Paulo Eduardo Rossetto (Colorado, Brazil) closed out a 3-for-4 performance on Sunday afternoon at the PBR Albuquerque Ty Murray Invitational inside The Pit in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to win his first PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast event.

Rossetto, who competes for the Missouri Thunder in the separate PBR Teams league, rocketed from No. 12 to No. 6 in the heated race for the 2025 PBR World Championship.

“I’m very grateful,” Rossetto said from the dirt through a translator after his elite series win. “The first words I said were ‘dad’ and ‘bull.’ It’s a dream come true and I’m so grateful for everything God has done in my life.”

With five regular-season events remaining before the PBR World Finals in Texas on May 8-18, world leader Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) and world No. 2 Brady Fielder (Clermont, Queensland, Australia) had a tough go of it over the weekend in Duke City – with Kasel going 0-for-3 and Fielder only conquering 1 of his three bulls. Neither of the two heavyweights sitting atop the world standings made it to the championship round.

Fielder’s one qualified ride of the weekend narrowed the gap between he and Kasel to a mere 32.5 points.

No. 3 Sage Steele Kimzey (Strong City, Oklahoma), who went 3-for-4 in Palm Desert, California, last week, also had a disappointing weekend going 1-for-3, also missing the Championship Round. Kimzey, who rides for the Austin Gamblers alongside Kasel, is now 237.75 points behind Kasel.

World No. 4, and Florida Freedom athlete, John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) went 2-for-4 on the weekend, converting in his matchup on Friday and then earning a massive 90.75-point Round 3-winning score on Sunday, which moved him into sixth place on the overall event leaderboard. Crimber sits 54.27 points behind Kimzey headed into next weekend’s showcase in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Missouri Thunder captain No. 5 Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas), who finished second in Palm Desert, was unable to compete in Albuquerque due to injury.

After conquering Mr. Demon on Friday night for a round-winning 90.75 points, tying for the high-marked ride of the event, Rossetto continued the momentum on Saturday with an 88.5-point ride aboard One Chance

Paired with Judgement Day for Sunday’s opening round, the 27-year-old remained in full control for 87.25 points.

Sitting atop the leaderboard from the moment the championship round began, by virtue of the two other riders who had gone 3-for-3 bucking off in the final round, Rossetto had already clinched the win before he attempted to ride Nobody. The crowd inside of The Pit erupted as Rossetto sailed through the air in what looked to be a picture-perfect ending to his weekend. Judges flagged a touch at 2.66 seconds, however, resulting in a no score, which would only have padded Rossetto’s win.

In addition to a check for $47,175, Rossetto earned 159 Unleash The Beast points.

2024 event champion Eduardo Aparecido (Gouvelandia, Brazil) was hopeful for another Albuquerque title but even in putting up an 88-point score in the championship round fell just short, one point behind Rossetto, claiming second place.

After a 90.5-point score Friday night on King Tut, the Arizona Ridge Riders’ veteran became a man on a mission for a second title.

Despite his dialed-in, laser-focus form on Saturday night, Aparecido was no match for Sucker Pop – hitting the ground at just 1.9 seconds.

Starting Sunday aboard Hunter knowing he had to gain ground, Aparecido netted 87 points before heading into his final out of the weekend.

Selecting UTZ BesTex Smokestack as his final opponent in hopes of his second UTB win of the 2025 season, Aparecido recorded an impressive 88-point score, which wasn’t enough to overcome Rossetto.

With the second-place finish, Aparecido earned 110 UTB points and moved from No. 24 to No. 17 in the world.

New York Mavericks man Leonardo Castro (Cassilandia, Brazil) finished the weekend in third place overall after going 3-for-4.

After a rough Friday night where Constant Payne bested the 21-year-old after just 2.43 seconds, he recovered with an 86.25-point ride on Yo Mamma. Sailing into Sunday, Castro was successful in both his Round 3 matchup with Big X for 85.25 points and his championship round selection of Top Dollar for 89.5.

He earned 89 UTB points and moved from No. 17 to No. 11 in the UTB standings.

Clay Guiton (Cherryville, North Carolina) ended the weekend as the No. 23 man in the world standings after going 3-for-4 to finish fourth.

Besting both his Friday and Saturday night matchups, Guiton moved into Sunday sitting at No. 3 on the event leaderboard.

Matched with Constant Payne in Round 3, Guiton recorded an 89.75-point score. Climbing aboard Eyes On Me in the championship round didn’t go his way, as the muscular bovine dispatched him after 1.44 seconds.

Guiton earned 68 UTB points on the weekend.

Rounding out the Top 5 of the PBR Albuquerque Ty Murray Invitational event was 40-year old Texas Rattlers veteran Joao Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil), whose first premier series win was in Albuquerque 12 years ago.

Showcasing perfect form throughout the opening rounds of the three-day weekend, Vieira conquered Skippy in Round 1 for 87 points and Snap Chatter in Round 2 for 80.75 points.

After Vieira earned his path into the final round courtesy of an 86-point ride aboard Margin of Error in Round 3, the 458th ride of his career, Fire Zone threw him to the ground at 5.49 seconds in the championship round, dashing his hopes of a win in The Pit a decade after his first buckle in Albuquerque.

Vieira went 3-for-4 on the weekend, earning 53 UTB points for a fifth-place finish, which pushed him from No. 29 to No. 27.

In the bull pen, Eyes On Me and Slick Rick were unrivaled, anointed the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bulls of the Event after recording matching 45.25-point bull scores. Bucking in Round 1, Eyes on Me bested Koltin Hevalow (McAlester, Oklahoma) at 3.71 seconds while Slick Rick dominated Kaiden Loud (Kaufman, Texas) in the championship round after 5.66 seconds.
