Fresno, Calif. – As the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour’s (PWVT) PBR Fresno rolled to a close on Friday night, Marcus Mast (Middlebury, Indiana) emerged victorious after riding 2-for-2 in a double-entry evening. 

The 30-year-old, who rides for the Kansas City Outlaws in the separate PBR Teams League, had the excited California crowd cheering at full volume as he fired out of the chutes for the first time Friday evening aboard On the Spot. He made the 8, scoring 83.5 points. 

Hoping to keep the same momentum going as he looked ahead to his second matchup of the night against Thunderstruck, he burst from the chutes, making it to the whistle and besting his first mark with an 86-point score. 

For his perfect night in California, Mast earned 46 Velocity Global points and heads into Saturday leading the charge after his first and second place dual-entry finish on Friday.

Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.

Washington Cowboy Jace Catlin (Toledo, Washington) punched his ticket into Round 2 when he erupted from the chutes aboard West Coast Rain to secure a third-place finish. The 34-year-old athlete received a less-than-ideal 71-point ride score but earned 9 Velocity Global points. 

PBR Fresno will continue inside the Save Mart Center as the top bull riders of the PWVT return for Round 2 followed by the Championship Round on Saturday, March 29 at 7 p.m. PST.
