BANGOR, Maine – At Kubota PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Bangor, Josh Stepp (Hendersonville, North Carolina) emerged victorious in Round 2.
After bucking off Old School (J Bar W) in 7.71 seconds in Round 1, the Tar Heel State cowboy roared back with a round-winning 86 points atop Lucifer (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls) in Round 2 Saturday evening.
The round win earned Stepp 32 Velocity Global points.
Dawson Gleaves (Amarillo, Texas) was the only rider to reach two qualified rides to seize first place in the event after the first two rounds.
Gleaves topped Game Day (C-B Bucking Bulls) for a round-winning 85.5 points in Round 1.
In Round 2, the Texan stormed out of the chute aboard Dust Buster (Lucky E Eodeo) for 73 points to finish third in the round.

Souza garnered 18 Velocity Global points for his second-round ride.
Courtesy of a double-entry, Gleaves also holds the fifth spot in the event standings.
Tasked with Bojangles Chicken Leg (J Bar W) in the opening round, Gleaves roared out of the chutes for 81 points.
Looking to take the first two spots on the leaderboard, Gleaves rocketed out of the gate atop Hondo (Lucky E Rodeo) in Round 2 but was bucked off after 1.97 seconds.
Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.
Kubota PBR Bangor continues on Sunday, March 9, with Round 3 and the championship round beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
While the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour bucks in Bangor and Lexington, Kentucky, the elite Unleash The Beast competes in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
