TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – One round wasn’t enough to separate Joao Lucas Campos (Porto Feliz, Brazil) and Callum Miller (Warwick, Queensland, Australia) at PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Tallahassee as the pair split the opening round victory.
Campos topped Gucci Time (Cross 33 Cattle/Daylon Swearingen) for 86 points, matching Miller, who rode Knockin Boots (Richardson Land & Cattle Co) for 86 points.
The Round 1 victory netted both cowboys 23 Velocity Global points.
Right on their spurs was Carlos Andre de Oliveira (Ipameri, Brazil).
Tasked with Richie (Cross 33 Cattle/Daylon Swearingen) in Round 1, the Brazilian rocketed out of the chutes for 85.5 points.
He left Donald L. Tucker Civic Center with 17 Velocity Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 was another tie between Wyatt Rogers (Hulbert, Oklahoma) and Manoelito de Souza Junior (Itamira, Brazil).
Rogers rode Vigilante (Halpain Bucking Bulls) for 84.5 points while Souza matched him atop Urkel (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls), also for 84.5 points.
Both gained 15.5 points for their opening round rides Friday evening.
Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.
While the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour bucked in Tallahassee, the elite Unleash The Beast bucked in Louisville, Kentucky. World No. 2 Dalton Kasel captured the Round 1 victory, his tour-leading ninth round win of the season.
PBR Tallahassee concludes Saturday, March 15, with Round 2 and the championship round beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
