FORT WORTH, Texas – Another week, another winner as Sage Steele Kimzey stormed into Fiserv Forum and claimed his first premier series title of the ever-dramatic 2025 Unleash The Beast slate.
Representing just his second outright win in what’s become his second season as a regular on the top circuit, “The Professor” certainly lent a lecture to the rest of the class as the top-scoring cowboy in the showcase.
Nearly allowing Andrew Alvidrez to parlay the RANKEST ride of the season so far, a 94-pointer aboard Man Hater, into his second win in three weeks, Kimzey earned the exact score needed during Sunday’s short round to boost him past the Seminole, Texas, native and into the winner’s circle:
An 88.25-pointer dancing to the win with Eyes On Me!
Which is a quality ride, all things considered.
Knowing that Austin Richardson knocked down the very same bull to stay perfect in Jacksonville, Florida, keeps the popular bovine in the spotlight just the same.
Hell, Paulo Eduardo Rossetto had a chance to best the bovine athlete for what would’ve started three-straight events in which the bull would’ve been involved in a chart-topping effort, but Rossetto wasn’t able to survive the requisite 8, instead settling for sixth.
But we came here to celebrate the seven-time PRCA Champ in Kimzey, who’s been very adamant he’d like to add the 2025 PBR World Championship to his already well-stocked trophy case.
One of five different cowboys to stay perfect throughout the weekend, Kimzey averaged an 88.42-point score across his three conversions, eventually outscoring Alvidrez by a mere quarter of a point (.25) when all was said and done.
Originally teaming up with Skippy in Round 1, he joined trending rookie Elizmar Jeremias for a second-place tie, trailing only 2018 World Champion Kaique Pacheco, who’s been enjoying some opening round success here lately.
Returning to Fiserv Forum with some extra steam during Championship Sunday, the accomplished rider kept the show going by teaming up with I Hate You to win the Round 2 honors while positioning himself with a favorable pick in the short round draft.
Representing his fourth round win of the season, he’s now one of just four riders with four or more round wins on their resume this season, joining Dalton Kasel (seven), Keyshawn Whitehorse (five), John Crimber (four) and Brady Fielder (four).
Later sealing the deal with his qualified ride aboard Eyes On Me, the veteran climbed atop the shark cage and celebrated with a big check inked for $48,441 after chatting with Matt West down on the dirt.
“Man, it’s special. There’s been a lot going on over the past few years. Injuries – this, that and the other – Family. Just being busy at home and everything else. It’s been a long time coming to finally get an event win here on the PBR tour and what a better place to do it than Milwaukee,” Kimzey shared with Matt West via the PBR’s YouTube stream.
“It was cool – just to get the energy in the building was great. Watching Andrew ride the bucking bull of the year is just incredible. Brady (Fielder) coming out. At the end of the day it doesn’t change my job but it was electric in this building, for sure.”
The big win is somehow just Kimzey’s first regular season event title, with the veteran winning last year’s 2024 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast – Championship showdown inside AT&T Stadium as his first and only other trip to the winner’s circle at this level.
After turning in a No. 7 finish at the end of his first official Unleash The Beast campaign last spring, it seems he’s only looking to improve on said mark, currently up to the No. 2 spot and just 127.25 points behind No. 1 Brady Fielder after earning a solid 140.5 points from his victory.
“Very focused. It’s one of those deals – this year has been a grind,” Kimzey told Matt West via the RidePass on Pluto TV stream.
“I haven’t won as much as what I wanted to but I’ve kept up the good fight. Kept the faith. Kept working hard and finally got a break out here.”
Taking a week off with some sickness when the tour travelled to Indianapolis, Indiana, a few weekends back, it seems the mid-season rest may have gone a long way for the trending talent, as he’s turned in first and sixth-place efforts since returning. Pairing a perfect 3-for-3 from his time in Salt Lake City, Utah, with a similar flawless run in Jacksonville, he’s bringing a nine-out ride streak into this weekends’ PBR Little Rock.
With seven Top 10 results to his name throughout his 13 appearances, he’s roughly averaged a Top 10 spot in half of his events attended in 2025. Perhaps even more impressive, he’s rode at least one bull in 12 of 13 instances, insisting he’s very much on the hunt for the coveted gold buckle.
Not just on the hunt, either. He’s nearly leading the pack!
The question on the top of our minds, now?
Does he have another fruitful finish in him this weekend in Little Rock, Arkansas, as he looks to surpass the standout Australian for the tour’s top rank?
Somehow we’re already within the single-digit countdown when it comes to remaining regular season showcases, as a mere eight meet-ups separate the world’s most talented bull riders from two weeks in the heart of Cowboy Country during the 2025 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast.
Back to take a look at some of the rankest rides and biggest figures, By the Numbers returns to break down Kimzey’s first win of the year, the highest-scored ride of the season and tons of other outlying numerals from last weekend’s showcase in Milwaukee, Wisconsin!
94 Points: Just two weeks after recording the highest-scored ride of his career while tying John Crimber for the best mark of the campaign, an epic 92.5-pointer atop Nobody, Alvidrez doubled down on the elite effort by producing the flashiest score of the 2025 season.
Met with a few insane jumps off the rip, Alvidrez survived them, only to be greeted with a direction change later in the out. None of it mattered, however, except for the score, as the Missouri Thunder standout was feeling himself Sunday. Forced into accepting his runner-up effort after Kimzey edged him out by a quarter of a point (.25), Alvidrez collected a sound 100.5 UTB points for the second-place effort. Up to the No. 6 spot within the Unleash The Beast standings, he’s just 13-for-30 on the season. But with three Top 2 finishes to his name this season, including his win in Indianapolis and an early-season runner-up finish in Ontario, California, the 28-year-old can’t be upset about solidifying his spot in the Top 10. Especially when we consider his 94-pointer aboard Man Hater goes down as the best-scored ride of the charismatic cowboy’s career.
Felip3 Furlan: Felipe Furlan hasn’t been on fire throughout the 2025 campaign, all things considered. In fact, he’s only participated in eight UTB events this season after taking some additional time off following the 2024 PBR Teams Championship. But he’s 100% warming up lately, most recently securing a third-place finish last weekend in Milwaukee courtesy of his perfect showcase. Serving as the Brazilian’s second-ever Top 3 finish on the premier series, he was one spot away from tying his career-best, which came in the form of a runner-up placement earlier this season in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He hasn’t been around too much this year. But since returning as a bit of a regular in late December, he’s been turning heads during his second season on UTB.
Knocking down at least one bull in each of his eight appearances, he’s been rolling with the “slow and steady” approach. However, after besting Lights Out for a career-best 91 points, the very same bull he produced a rank 90.25-pointer back in the Burgh, the 25-year-old let it be known he’s kicking things up a notch during the circuit’s final stretch. Rounding out the podium via his third-place result, it now represents his third Top 10 of the season as he scooted up from the No. 31 rank to the No. 25 spot ahead of this weekend’s PBR Little Rock.
Round 1 Domination: Keyshawn Whitehorse was establishing quite the reputation this season for claiming Round 1 honors after storming into any given barn and setting the tone. But after seeing the “Ice Man” Kaique Pacheco win Round 1 in back-to-back sessions, it’ll be hard not to keep our eyes on the 2018 World Champion Saturday night inside Simmons Bank Arena. Stepping up to the plate and knocking his matchup with Mike’s Motive out of the park, Pacheco began his weekend with a round-best 90.25-pointer just one week after winning the opening round in Jacksonville courtesy of an equally epic 90.5-point journey aboard the very same bull. The oddest part about said matchup? Mike’s Motive had gotten the best of Pacheco in three-straight matchups prior to Jacksonville. But it’s safe to say the tables have turned!
Potentially even more impressive, Pacheco tied the broadcast’s color commentator in Cooper Davis for the fourth-most round wins in PBR history with 61 via his rank conversion. Needing just one more round win to tie Chris Shivers for the third-most all-time, the Brazilian continues to punch his way into the record books in high-flying fashion. Exactly what we’d expect from a champ like Pacheco!
Six-Straight 4 No. 1: The Australian known as Brady Fielder hasn’t exactly been the headline as the tour prepares to enter its Week 16 slate. At the same time, he hasn’t been outside the fun zone by any means, as Fielder is currently riding a six-out ride streak, now perfect in each of his past two events. By his lanky nature, it can be hard for the Texas Rattlers star to get credit for showing off some of these bulls – but he keeps knocking them down and defending his lead. One at a time.
Just seven days after turning in a 3-for-3, third-place result in Jacksonville, Fielder produced a matching 3-for-3 run inside Fiserv Forum as he maintained his No. 1 rank atop the pack. At 86.5 (Easy Labor) and 85 points (Bugatti), respectively, Fielder wasn’t on pace to break the bank with the pair of quality, albeit not stunning, conversions. That changed during the short round, as he teamed up with UTZ BesTex Smokestack for a prized 89.75 points.
You can’t get much closer, literally, to a 90 at this or any level. And while he didn’t earn what would’ve been his third rank ride of the season, he was still able to parlay his trio into a fourth-place effort, now finishing in the Top 5 in back-to-back showcases. We may measure Top 10 and Top 15 marks for some riders – But when you’re on top of the world standings, we have to look a bit closer. Joining his pair of wins earlier this season in Chicago and Pittsburgh, Fielder now has six different Top 5 results (first, first, third, third, third, fourth) to his credit during what could very much end up being the cowboy’s first-ever buckle-claiming campaign.
24/42: It’s damn hard to follow up 25 successful outs in the opening round: Exactly what we saw when the tour invaded VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. But, damn, did the premier series pack do all they could to run it back Saturday night, coming up just one ride short of said total at 24. The tour doesn’t see many rounds like this overall, with an average of 15 or so conversions being produced in a typical 40-out session. But with more than half of the pack meeting the 8 once more, it’s hard not to give the guys their flowers as they continue to set the bar on night one. Pacheco and Mike’s Motive teamed up to win Round 1 – But with four other scores coming in above the 88-point mark, there was plenty of drama baked in.
Going 42-of-91 (46.2%) overall as a collective unit, the pack nearly rode half of the bovines which entered the chutes throughout the event. Which is fun for both fans and competitors themselves as the drama continues to climb ahead of the 2025 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast. Combining for three 90s throughout the weekend, Pacheco set the tone courtesy of his 90.5-pointer in Round 1. The second go didn’t feature any Monster Energy-sponsored marks, but the short round sure did! With both Furlan (91 points) and Alvidrez (94 points) putting exclamation marks on the weekend, it’s hard not to be juiced for this weekend’s PBR Little Rock!
