AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Gamblers re-signed 2019 PBR Rookie of the Year Dalton Kasel, the team announced today. Kasel is known in pro bull riding as “Mr. 90 Point” for his high-scoring rides, two of which were instrumental in leading the Gamblers to the 2024 PBR Teams Championship.
After he was initially drafted by the Kansas City Outlaws with the fourth overall pick in the inaugural PBR Teams Draft in 2022, Kasel was traded to the Gamblers later that season in October for Alex Marcilio, a 2024 first round pick, a 2025 second round draft pick and cash considerations.
Kasel immediately made an impact with the team, going 4-for-7 (57.14%) to close out the season to help the Gamblers be crowned the 2022 regular-season champions. Since then, the Muleshoe, Texas, native has gone an impressive 19-for-41 (46.34%) during the 2023 and 2024 regular seasons.
Kasel’s most notable contribution to the team came during the 2024 PBR Teams Championship when he covered his final three bulls to go 3-for-5, punctuated by riding Baldy for 90.25 points in the team’s 432.75-357.5 upset of the No. 1 ranked Kansas City Outlaws in the Semifinals and then topping Always Been Crazy for an event-high 92 points in the championship game to help defeat the Carolina Cowboys, 357.5-252.5.
“Dalton Kasel is a cowboy’s cowboy,” said Gamblers CEO J.J. Gottsch. “Most people don’t know how hurt Dalton was during the Teams Championship last year, especially after he got hung up on the first night. The grit and courage he showed to keep putting his hand in the bull rope and help us win a championship was awe-inspiring. We’re extremely happy to know that Dalton will be a Gambler for the next four years.”
The new four-year deal cements Kasel’s place alongside fellow aces Jose Vitor Leme, Sage Steele Kimzey and Kaique Pacheco – who have a combined ten individual bull riding world titles – as the Austin Gamblers attempt to become the first team to win back-to-back PBR Teams Championships.
"Dalton Kasel was instrumental in bringing the 2024 Teams Championship home to Austin, Texas,” Head Coach Michael Gaffney said. “Dalton will continue his integral role with the team for the foreseeable future and once again the Austin Gamblers will be a formidable force to win the first ever back-to-back Teams title in 2025."
“I’m here to stay and I’m very blessed to have this team and everyone that is involved with the Gamblers,” Kasel said.
Gamblers fans will have an opportunity to see Kasel, alongside his fellow Gamblers, at the team’s fourth-annual PBR Gambler Days homestand at the Moody Center on August 22-24, 2025. Tickets are on sale now and start at $25, taxes and fees not included. Tickets can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com and PBR.com, or by calling PBR customer service at 1-800-732-1727.
