FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 90th iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Sandro Batista (Pedra Preta, Brazil) put together a flawless performance to take home the event title.
The leadoff rider for the Kansas City Outlaws during the 2024 PBR Camping World Team Series season, Batista topped Rafter H 141 (Rafter H Rodeo Livestock) for 80.5 points in Round 1.
In Round 2, the Brazilian covered Political Cowboy (Chad Prather/Boots for Troops/CG Bucking Bulls) for a round-winning 85 points to catapult to the top of the standings.
The victory earned Batista 55 Velocity Global points.
Second place belonged to Christian Clay Oliveira (Iturama, Brazil).
After riding Rafter H 1205 (Rafter H Rodeo Livestock) for 82.5 points in Round 1, Oliveira sat tall aboard CMSR 050 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 81 points in Round 2.
The silver finish garnered the Brazilian cowboy 41 Velocity Global points.
The final spot on the podium went to Dener Barbosa (Paulo de Faria, Brazil).
Tasked with Rafter H 66H (Rafter H Rodeo Livestock) in Round 1, Barbosa moved in perfect time with his animal athlete counterpart for 84 points.
In the second round, the veteran hung on to Ric Flair (CG Bucking Bulls) for 72 points.
Barbosa’s perfect performance netted him 23 Velocity Global points.
Max Castro (Chiquimula, Guatemala) was the final rider to go 2-for-2 and finished fourth.
Topping CMSR 15 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 75.5 points in the opening round, Castro then shot up the leaderboard by riding CMSR 12 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 78 points in Round 2.
Castro left Cowtown Coliseum with 10 Velocity Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 was Alex Cerqueira (Iguatemi, Brazil).
The Brazilian won the opening round by riding Tomahawk (Rafter C Cattle) for an event-high 86 points.
In the final round, Off The Rocker (CG Bucking Bulls) got the better of Cerqueira after 4.31 seconds.
The 1-for-2 performance garnered Cerqueira 21 Velocity Global points.
Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.
In the bull pen, CMSR E01 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) was marked 44.5 points for his 3.81-second buckoff of Mossy Waite (New Plymouth, Idaho) in Round 2 to win the Bull of the Event title.
The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, February 13. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
