FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 89th iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Kase Hitt (Dickson, Oklahoma) went a perfect 2-for-2 to win the event title.
The seventh pick in the 2024 PBR Teams New Rider Draft by the Oklahoma Wildcatters began his evening by riding ECF 1102 (Barthold & Eldred) for 85 points to win the opening round.
Now locked in, Hitt covered CMSR 07H (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for an event-high 86.5 points to complete a clean sweep of the two-round event.
The Oklahoman left Cowtown Coliseum with 62 Velocity Global points.
Dener Barbosa (Paulo de Faria, Brazil) also went 2-for-2 to finish second.
The veteran covered Spooky Vibes (Barthold & Eldred) for 84.5 points in Round 1.
Paired with Spanky (Richardson Land & Cattle Co) in the final round, Barbosa once again made the 8, this time for 84 points, but it wasn’t enough to overtake Hitt.
The flawless performance netted Barbosa 45 Velocity Global points.
The final spot on the podium belonged to Guilherme Valleiras (Pirassununga, Brazil).
After hanging onto Arrow Head (Carr Pro Rodeo) for 72.5 points in Round 1, Valleiras climbed the leaderboard by topping Bad Boy (Richardson Land & Cattle Co) for 85 points in Round 2.
The bronze finish garnered Valleiras 24 Velocity Global points.
In fourth place was Tyce Willis (Alvord, Texas).
Competing less than an hour from home, Willis rode Smokin Again (Carr Pro Rodeo) for 83 points in Round 1.
In Round 2 the Texan stormed out of the chutes on CMSR H23 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) in search of his first PBR victory, but was bucked off in a heartbreaking 7.39 seconds.
Willis returned home with 19 Velocity Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 was Manoelito de Souza Junior (Itamira, Brazil).
While the Brazilian was able to stay atop Tip It (Richardson Land & Cattle Co) for 81 points in Round 1, he was bested by Crime Scene (LS Risen Bucking Bulls/Richardson Land & Cattle) in 2.58 seconds during Round 2.
Souza’s 1-for-2 performance earned him 16 Velocity Global points.
Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.
In the bull pen, Slick Rick (Richardson Land & Cattle Co) was marked 44.5 points for his 1.35-second buck off of Max Castro (Richardson Land & Cattle Co) in the opening round to win the Bull of the Event title.
The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, February 6. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
