Following a 2.81-second buckoff dealt to him Friday night by Simon (K-C Bucking Bulls/Daniels Cattle Co.), Whitehorse, who rides for the Arizona Ridge Riders in the separate PBR Teams league, reset himself on Saturday to dominate Tyrone (Cornwell Bucking Bulls) for a mammoth 90.75 points to win Round 2.
Collecting 29 Unleash The Beast points, Whitehorse rose from No. 26 to No. 17 in the race for the 2025 PBR World Championship. Whitehorse is also now fifth in the event standings.
New York’s own Daylon Swearingen (Piffard, New York) improved to a perfect 2-for-2 to overtake the event lead. After riding Knucklehead (K-C Bucking Bulls/TCB Ranch) for 83.25 points in Round 1, Swearingen brought the electric Empire State crowd to its feet on Saturday when he bested Velvet Revolver (Blake Sharp/Henry Wilson) for 87.5 points.
2022 PBR World Champion Swearingen, who also rides for the Carolina Cowboys, earned 13.5 Unleash The Beast points for his Round 2 ride. He climbed from No. 37 to No. 36 in the standings as he chases his second gold buckle.
Atop the race for the 2025 PBR World Championship, No. 1 John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) extended his lead over No. 2 Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) courtesy of a 14th-place finish in Round 2.
After being tossed by Whiskey Trip (Lari Crane/Gene Owen) in 4.59 seconds in Round 1, the Florida Freedom’s Crimber rebounded by conquering Crazy Party (Blake Sharp/Michael Floyd) for 85.5 points in Round 2. Netting 8 Unleash The Beast points, Crimber now leads No. 2 Kasel, who is 0-for-2 inside The World’s Most Famous Arena, by 81 points.
Returning to the top of the event leaderboard, the New York Mavericks’ Mauricio Moreira (Gaviao Peixoto, Brazil) is second.
Moreira delivered his second 84.75-point ride in New York City, this time teaming with 50 Shades (McCoy Rodeo/Rockin’ Rafter P Ranches) in Round 2. He earned 8 Unleash The Beast points and remains No. 38 in the standings.
Vinicius Pinheiro Correa (Aimores, Brazil) is third courtesy of his 2-for-2 performance through the opening rounds.
On Saturday night, he paired with Don’t Come Easy (Blake Sharp/Chris Utz/Carey Brothers) for 82.75 points, garnering 8 Unleash The Beast points. The Brazilian newcomer rose from No. 32 to No. 31 in the standings.
Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth and the final rider to register two qualified rides in New York City is the Kansas City Outlaws’ Sandro Batista (Pedra Preta, Brazil).
After covering First Class (Dave Martin/Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 78.25 points in Round 1, Batista climbed the standings in Round 2 when he rode Old Testament (Jo-Z Bucking Bulls/K-C/Spark-lin Acres) for 82.25 points. Batista earned 8 Unleash The Beast points and climbed from No. 30 to No. 28 in the World Championship race.
Action for the 2025 PBR Monster Energy Buck Off at The Garden, presented by Ariat, concludes with Round 3 and the championship round on Sunday, Jan. 5. Action gets underway at 2:45 p.m. ET. Tickets are still available and can be purchased online at ticketmaster.com, MSG.com and PBR.com.
