LAREDO, Texas – After the opening night of PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Laredo, Flavio Zivieri (Balsamo, Brazil) sits alone at the top of the leaderboard.  

The Brazilian rode Pearl (CIL Cattle Co #2) for 87.5 points to win Round 1. 

He left Sames Auto Arena with 28 Velocity Global points. 

Second place belonged to Pokey Houghton (St. George, Utah).

The Utahn moved in perfect time with Redline (D4 Redline Pro Rodeo) for 87 points. 

The ride garnered Houghton 18 Velocity Global points. 

Guilherme Valleiras (Pirassununga, Brazil) sits in third.

Valleiras roared out of the chutes atop Red Bull (Waymore Bucking Bulls) for 86.5 points in the opening round. 

The Brazilian cowboy netted 17 Velocity Global points for his effort Friday night. 

In fourth place was Wallace Vieira de Oliveira (Goiania, Brazil). 

Paired with Beach Bum (Silent 7/Hilton Bull Co), Oliveira stormed out of the gates for 86 points. 

His ride secured him 16 Velocity Global points. 

Guthrie Long (Pecos, Texas), Eric Novoa (Vacaville, California) and Dalton Rudman (Wellington, Utah) sit tied for fifth after the first night of competition. 

Long topped Foul Play (D4 Redline Pro Rodeo) for 85 points while Novoa matched him aboard Legitness (CIL Cattle CO) and Rudman covered Shakira (Folson Point Bucking Bulls) for 85 points of their own. 

All three earned 14 Velocity Global points for their opening round rides. 

Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.
