GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After the opening night of PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Grand Rapids, Bob Mitchell (Steelville, Missouri) sits alone atop the leaderboard after winning Round 1.

In the penultimate out of the evening, the vivacious cowboy topped Maximus (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger) for 84.5 points.

The Missourian netted 28 Velocity Global points for his round win Friday evening.

In second place was Cody Teel (College Station, Texas). Tasked with Foul Play (J Bar W), Teel made the 8 for 74.5 points.

His opening-round ride garnered the Texas cowboy 74.5 Velocity Global points.

Cody McCandless (Derry, Pennsylvania) currently holds third. McCandless covered Chainsaw (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 73 points in Round 1.

The ride secured the Pennsylvanian nine Velocity Global points.

The final ride of the evening belonged to Marcus Mast (Middlebury, Indiana), who finished fourth. The veteran rode The Frey (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 72 points Friday evening.

Mast left Van Andel Arena with eight Velocity Global points.

Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.

PBR Grand Rapids concludes tomorrow Saturday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. ET.

While the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour bucks in Grand Rapids and Tulsa, Oklahoma, the elite Unleash The Beast takes over PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
