WICHITA, Kan. – As the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) travelled to Wichita, Kansas, for the first time in more than a decade for the fourth Unleash The Beast event of the 2025 season, world No. 2 Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) was dominant, parlaying two monster 90-point long round-winning rides into his first event win of the season at PBR Wichita, moving to within 16 points of the world No. 1 position.
Kasel, who rode for the 2024 PBR Teams Champion Austin Gamblers in the separate PBR Teams league, travelled to Wichita trailing No. 1 John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) by 132 points as he chases his first World Championship this May.
The reserved Texan set a quick tone for the tour stop inside INTRUST Bank Arena, winning Round 1 on Friday with a 90.75-point ride atop Lap Dance (Flying S/Dozier Cattle Co.).
Kasel then furthered his stronghold on the top spot in the event standings when he again topped Round 2 on Saturday, this time conquering Mr. Right Now (Silent 7/Hilton Bull Co.) for 90.5 points.
With the first pick in the championship round bull draft, Kasel elected to go head-to-head with Doze You Down (Premier Livestock/Rafter KL). As he watched the 11 other advancing riders go before him, none were able to eclipse his aggregate score as Kasel clinched the victory before his final out.
Despite bucking off his final animal athlete opponent in 3.18 seconds, Kasel’s two round-winning rides were enough to win his first Unleash The Beast event of 2025. He now has 37 90-point rides in his PBR career.
In addition to a check for $50,000, Kasel earned a crucial 138 Unleash The Beast points. He decimated No. 1 Crimber’s lead, now only a mere 16 points back of overtaking the top spot.
Crimber went 1-for-3 to finish 10th at PBR Wichita, netting 22 Unleash The Beast points. The 2024 PBR Teams MVP from the Florida Freedom bested Good Riddance (Flying S/Kasel/Payne) for a mammoth 90 points in Round 2. In one of the most anticipated rides of the weekend, he was bucked off reigning YETI PBR World Champion Bull Man Hater (Jane Clark/Gene Owen) in the championship round.
Returning to the top of the event leaderboard newly minted Austin Gambler and seven-time PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) World Champion Sage Steele Kimzey (Strong City, Oklahoma) was second, garnering 95 Unleash The Beast points.
Kimzey began his efforts inside INTRUST Bank Arena in less-than-ideal form, upended by Big Choppa (Barthold & Eldred) in a close 7.55 seconds.
However, Kimzey rode in seemingly unstoppable form on Championship Saturday. After topping Down Payment (Joe & Nina Webb/Zane Walker/BS Cattle Co.) for 89 points in Round 1, Kimzey won the championship round with an event-best 91.75-point score on Nobody (Snyder Family/Gene Owen Bucking Bulls).
Kimzey catapulted from No. 13 to No. 3 in the race for the 2025 PBR World Championship and accompanying $1 million bonus. He now trails No. 1 Crimber by 166 points.
The New York Mavericks’ Leonardo Castro (Cassilandia, Brazil) was third.
Castro earned 71 Unleash The Beast points for his 87.75-point ride on Constant Payne (Flying S/Kasel/Payne) in Round 1, and 89.75-point score aboard Hunter (Dozier Cattle Co./Martinez Bucking Bulls) in the championship round.
The soft-spoken Brazilian climbed four positions in the World Championship standings, rising from No. 19 to No. 15.
Austin Richardson’s (Dallas, Texas) 2-for-3 showing propelled him to a fourth-place finish.
The Nashville Stampede rider delivered the second-best score of Round 1, covering Magic Hunter (Martinez Bucking Bulls, LLC) for 89 points, followed by the seventh-best score of Round 2, besting Mr. Wilson (Richardson Land & Cattle Co.) for 87.75 points.
Leaving Kansas with 52 Unleash The Beast points, Richardson rose from No. 38 to No. 18 in the standings.
Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Elizmar Jeremias (Anapu, Brazil).
The Florida Freedom’s Jeremias took home 43 Unleash The Beast points for his 86.25-point ride on Warlock (D&H Cattle Co./Buck Cattle Co.) and 88.75-point score on John 14:6 (Rafter G Rodeo/CIL Cattle). He rose from No. 21 to No. 13 in the standings.
In the bull pen, Man Hater and Fast Flow (Matejka/Outlaw/Lone Star/AFCO) were unrivaled, splitting the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event title. Both bucking in the championship round, and posting matching 46-point scores, Man Hater earned the marks for his 4.76 second of work against Crimber, while Fast Flow lit up the scoreboard when he tossed Oklahoma Wildcatter Clay Guiton (Cherryville, North Carolina) in 5.55 seconds.
