Unleash The Beast Top 10-ranked riders: How were their PBR Teams seasons?

11.12.24 - Unleash The Beast

Unleash The Beast Top 10-ranked riders: How were their PBR Teams seasons?

How did the top-performing cowboys from the 2024 season fare in the 5-on-5 landscape?

By James Youness

FORT WORTH, Texas – While most fans, riders and tour personnel alike can think back a good six months to when the 2024 Unleash The Beast season came to a conclusion inside AT&T Stadium, with standouts Cassio Dias, John Crimber, Man Hater and friends stepping their game up in epic and extremely dramatic fashion, Dias’s eventual 2024 PBR World Championship wasn’t won specifically down in Arlington, Texas.

And while those two nights in Jerry World were indeed rank, the reality lies in the idea that riders needed to excel throughout the premier series slate in order to find themselves dancing amongst the final 20 riders during the PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast – Championship.

Dating back to November of the 2023 calendar year, guys were laying it all on the line in an effort to better their position in the Unleash The Beast standings. Which is the end-all, be-all path to earning the coveted gold buckle.

Thus the importance of staying healthy, motivated and within striking distance for riders interested in finishing their season in the winner’s circle.

Knowing that six-month stretch is set to begin once more Nov. 15-16 in Tucson, Arizona, means locker rooms will soon be packed with the best and most competitive bull riders in the world.

So, as PBR.com and the competitors themselves prepare to switch gears from 5-on-5 fun to the seriousness of UTB action, we’re taking a look back at how each of the Top-10 ranked cowboys performed during their respective PBR Camping World Team Series regular season sessions from the summer of 2024!

No. 10 Koltin Hevalow (Kansas City Outlaws)

Record: 19-for-32 (59.38%)
MVP Race Finish: No. 10 – 1,383.75 aggregate score
Best Ride: 90.75 points (His first-ever 90-pointer at a PBR-sanctioned event)
Longest Ride Streak: Four (9/8-9/20: 87.25, 83, 85.5, 87.25)
Synopsis: After earning a career-high No. 10 finish during his 2024 Unleash The Beast campaign where he recorded 22 qualified rides in 68 opportunities, Koltin Hevalow kicked his game up a notch or two this summer riding with the Kansas City Outlaws. Coming just three rides short of his premier series total in 34 less outs, he was undoubtedly one of the three biggest reasons J.W. Hart, Guilherme Marchi and company captured their first PBR Teams regular season title. Ending the 5-on-5 season ranked No. 10 in the MVP race courtesy of his 16-for-29 regular season record, he joined Cassio Dias and Sandro Batista as one of three Outlaws riders to finish in the Top 10 of the individual aggregate.

No. 9 Kaique Pacheco (Austin Gamblers)
Record: 19-for-33 (57.58%)
MVP Race Finish: No. 11 – 1,286.5 aggregate score
Best Ride: 89.25 points (Saved his best for a Game 6 win at 2024 PBR Teams Championship)
Longest Ride Streak: Six (9/14-9/26: 86.5, 84, 86.25, 89, 88.25, 86.75)
Synopsis: Sure, John Crimber won the 2024 PBR Teams Championship MVP as he turned in a high-flying 4-for-4 performance inside T-Mobile Arena. But when it comes to sentiment and where/how/when ride scores were logged during the postseason gauntlet, Kaique Pacheco would be our Championship MVP, as the 2018 World Champion stepped up countlessly for his eventual Championship-raising Austin Gamblers. Going 4-for-5 throughout the postseason tournament, the veteran teamed up with stars in Jose Vitor Leme and Dalton Kasel in getting the job done during his first season rocking green and black. Becoming the first and only rider to capture two PBR Teams Championship buckles, it sure was good seeing the Brazilian all-star healthy once again.

No. 8 Brady Fielder (Texas Rattlers)
Record: 26-for-37 (70.27%)
MVP Race Finish: No. 2 – 2,109.5 aggregate score
Best Ride: 91.75 points (One of his two 90s and three conversions aboard Magic Hunter in 2024)
Longest Ride Streak: Seven (8/30-9/13: 87.25, 86.25, 88, 91.25, 87.5, 90.5, 89)
Synopsis: The first-ever Great 8 Award-winner from the camaraderie-driven landscape, Brady Fielder couldn’t have had much better of a season for his Texas Rattlers. Ending his season with the most efficient riding percentage (70.59%) amongst cowboys who attempted at least 20 outs, Fielder was roughly knocking down three out of every four bulls for a majority of the season. Trialing only eventual 2024 PBR Teams MVP John Crimber in overall conversions and aggregate score, the Australian star accepted some momentum from his career-best No. 8 UTB finish and parlayed it into a No. 2 PBR Teams effort as he continues to stamp his resume with new accolades.

No. 7 Sage Steele Kimzey (Carolina Cowboys)
Record: 13-for-26 (50%)
MVP Race Finish: No. 15 – 1,133.5 aggregate score
Best Ride: 91 points (Wasted zero time making an impression in 2024, recording his 91-pointer during his first out of the summer)
Longest Ride Streak: Five (8/4-8/18: 86, 87.5, 87.5, 90, 87.75)
Synopsis: Fresh off his first Unleash The Beast season, Carolina Cowboys star and seven-time PRCA World Champion Sage Steele Kimzey was sitting within the Top 10 of the MVP race for a majority of the season. But after posting an uncharacteristic 0-for-3 at the 2024 PBR Teams Championship while seeing his regular season runaway unit suffer an unideal ending, he found himself occupying the No. 15 rank in the individual aggregate score rankings. However, the veteran only logged a combined 26 outs (the fewest amongst riders in the Top 15), compared to the 44 Crimber executed and 32+ for each of the Top 5-producing cowboys. He will bounce back this fall.

No. 6 Kaiden Loud (Nashville Stampede)
Record: 7-for-21 (33.33%)
MVP Race Finish: T-No. 31 – 606.25 aggregate score
Best Ride: 88.25 points (Flashed coming back from two weeks off in front of his team’s hometown crowd in Nashville, Tennessee)
Longest Ride Streak: Two (7/26-7/28: 83.5, 87.5; 8/17-8/18: 88.25, 86.25)
Synopsis: After lighting the tour on fire during his rookie UTB campaign in 2024, Kaiden Loud was set to lead his Nashville Stampede to the promised land as the lean, mean riding machine was knocking down bulls and showing them off in epic fashion. But when the 19-year-old ran into some injuries early into the season it became clear that the Kaufman, Texas, native wasn’t going to be healthy enough for a quality run. Still able to manage a 7-for-21 record in limited opportunities, he was looking elite at the start of the summer, besting five of his first seven bovine opponents. As long as the youngster was able to heal up during his down time, he should return as a sincere threat.

No. 5 Alan de Souza (Nashville Stampede)
Record:
11-for-32 (34.38%)
MVP Race Finish:
No. 24 – 776.75 aggregate score
Best Ride:
88.5 points (Recorded a trio of matching scores in Duluth, Georgia, New York, New York and Fort Worth, Texas)
Longest Ride Streak:
Three (7/26-7/28: 84.75, 88.5, 87.75)
Synopsis:
With the Nashville Stampede seeing both Kaiden Loud and Alan de Souza take respective steps back from their 2024 UTB pace, it shouldn’t have surprised fans of the blue and yellow contingent found themselves watching the 2022 Champs take a stage left exit during the opening night of postseason showdowns. Souza, specifically, only managed nine qualified rides despite attempting 32 bulls throughout the summer. After serving as the definition of “finishing gritty rides” throughout the premier series season, things just weren’t clicking the for the veteran this time around. However, known for settling for a high-scoring 70-pointer or low-scoring 80-pointers on UTB, his lowest score of the summer slate was 84, showing the cowboy has been able to clean some things up, albeit not as productive as his individual season efforts flashed.

No. 4 Dalton Kasel (Austin Gamblers)
Record: 9-for-20 (45%)
MVP Race Finish: No. 37 – 531.25 aggregate score
Best Ride: 92 points (Stole the show by recording the highest-marked ride at the 2024 PBR Teams Championship, which happened to come during the Championship Game!)
Longest Ride Streak: Three (10/19-10/20: 88.25, 90.25, 92)
Synopsis: While Dalton Kasel may have missed a good chunk of the 2024 PBR Camping World Team Series as he attended to a few injuries throughout the summer, “Mr. 90-Pointer” honored his namesake when it mattered most: during the 2024 PBR Teams Championship. Turning in just a 6-for-15 slate during his third season of 5-on-5 action, Kasel saved the best for last, going 3-for-5 in totality during his playoff appearance. Specifically rising to the occasion as the weekend progressed, he ended his slate with a three elite scores, which naturally included a pair of 90s. He may have only recorded nine conversions in limited time atop the chutes – but each of them were good for at least 86.5 points or better. We know what he’s capable of and expect it at this point!

No. 3 Eduardo Aparecido (Arizona Ridge Riders)
Record:
17-for-30 (56.67%)
MVP Race Finish:
No. 8 – 1,456.5 aggregate score
Best Ride:
91 points (Notched the 31st 90-point ride of his career during a showdown against the Oklahoma Wildcatters)
Longest Ride Streak:
Four (9/27-10/6: 84, 89.25, 88.25, 87.25)
Synopsis:
Starting up another action-packed summer of camaraderie-driven action just a month or two after turning in a career-best No. 3 finish on Unleash The Beast (where he went 30-for-70), Eduardo Aparecido gave everything he had for his Arizona Ridge Riders once again. Turning in a healthy 17-for-30 slate this time around, he led his black and white squad into battle with a big smile and rank rides, leading the team in conversions once again. And while his squad was eliminated during the league’s first-ever Ride-In Round, the veteran will have plenty of momentum to tap as he looks to stay competitive against the tour’s ever-youthful pack during the approaching premier series campaign. Fast Eddy is also “quickly” climbing the qualified ride record books after notching his 400th career premier series qualified ride in early September. History in the making!

No. 2 John Crimber (Florida Freedom)
Record: 30-for-44 (68.19%)
MVP Race Finish: No. 1 – 2,256.75
Best Ride: 91.25 points (Teamed up with Umm to capture the opening night Shootout Round win during this year’s PBR Teams: Ridge Rider Days in Glendale, Arizona)
Longest Ride Streak: Five (8/3-8/9: 86.5, 89, 89.5, 87.5, 88.25)
Synopsis: Claiming both the 2024 PBR Teams MVP and eventual 2024 PBR Teams Championship MVP honors just weeks later as THE hottest rider from the 2024 PBR Teams season, John Crimber couldn’t have dreamed up a better rookie year in the 5-on-5 landscape. The only man to hit the 30-ride mark this summer, the kid was simply the tour’s main attraction. Regularly opting into extra outs via Shootout Round greatness, the 19-year-old put on a show throughout the league’s 12-event season, eventually ending the season with circuit-based seven 90-pointers. This is a STAR and we can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for his sophomore campaign, set to begin this weekend!

No. 1 Cassio Dias (Kansas City Outlaws)
Record: 22-for-36 (61.11%)
MVP Race Finish: No. 5 – 1,747 aggregate score
Best Ride: 98.25 points (Quite literally one of the best scores in PBR history, the 2024 World Champion teamed up with Man Hater once more in epic fashion, this time in Fort Worth, Texas)
Longest Ride Streak: Four (8/23-8/30: 90, 77, 88, 88.25; 10/5-10/20: 87.25, 88.75, 85, 91.25)
Synopsis: Just two months after claiming his first PBR World Championship inside AT&T Stadium, the Kansas City Outlaws’ standout was back doing what he does best: recording rank scores. And with one of the highest-scoring marks of all time being added to his resume during his second summer of camaraderie-driven competition, Dias has already solidified himself in PBR history. Fortunately for fans around the world, he hasn’t showed any signs of slowing down, meaning bull riding supporters should be able to watch the Brazilian’s trail of greatness for years to come. Had he not endured quite the down stretch early in the season, which included an uncharacteristic seven-out buckoff streak, he would’ve been right next to Crimber in the MVP race. Then again, that’s why you play the game!
