Ky Hamilton takes home event title at PBR Stockyards Showcase

PBR Teams MVP John Crimber records event-high 89.5-pointer, third-place finish in Cowtown.

By Andrew Hatfield

FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 78th iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Ky Hamilton (Mackay, Queensland, Australia) went a perfect 2-for-2 to win the event title.

The Aussie began his evening by riding Mouse Trap (Nothin’ But Try Ranch) for 88 points, pushing him into second heading into the final round.

In Round 2, Hamilton rocketed out of the chutes on Hot Grease (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for another 88 points to take over the top spot on the leaderboard.

The victory earned Hamilton a critical 59 Challenger Global points.

The only other rider to go a perfect 2-for-2 was Alex Junior da Silva (Bom Jesus da Penha, Brazil).

After riding CMSR 967 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 83 points in the opening round, the Brazilian seized the second spot on the podium by covering Ground Strike (Stockyards Pro Rodeo/Winston/Gallagher/Melton Bull Co) for 87 points in the final round.

The silver finish garnered Silva a crucial 44 Challenger Global points.

Recently crowned PBR Teams MVP John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) took third.

The closer and first overall pick for the Florida Freedom on the separate PBR Camping World Team Series, Crimber roared out of the chutes for an event-high 89.5 points on Elkins 133 (Philip Elkins) in Round 1.

Paired with Jag Metals Soul Go (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) in Round 2, the 19-year-old was immediately unseated by the powerful bovine competitor after just 1.75 seconds.

Crimber returned home with 26 Challenger Global points.

In fourth place was Austin Gamblers’ veteran Lucas Divino (Nova Crixas, Brazil).

Divino rocketed out of the gates aboard CMSR 910 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 85 points in Round 1 and could not compete in the final round.

The Brazilian cowboy’s one ride was enough to garner 19 Challenger Global points.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Carlos Andre de Oliveira (Ipameri, Brazil).

After riding Bootstrap (Rafter G Rodeo) for 82.5 points in the opening round, the Brazilian initially sat tall atop CMSR H23 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) before being flung to the dirt after a heartbreaking 7.81 seconds.

Oliveira left Cowtown Coliseum with 15 Challenger Global points.

Challenger Global points contribute to the Challenger Global Standings and the Top 40 at the end of the season compete in the PBR Challenger Series Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada, held alongside the PBR Teams Championship. A select number of riders from the top of the 2024 Challenger Global Standings will receive a berth to the elite 2025 Unleash The Beast.

In the bull pen, the aforementioned Jag Metals Soul go was marked 46 points for his quick buck off of Crimber in the second round to take home the Bull of the Event title.

The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, October 24. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
