Texas Rattlers remain undefeated at home, beating instate rival Austin Gamblers

2024 PBR World Champion Cassio Dias logs second-highest score in PBR history, riding Man Hater for a mammoth 98.25 points.

By Kacie Albert

FORT WORTH, Texas – On a historic record-setting night of bull riding inside Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, the 2023 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Teams Champion Texas Rattlers continued to ride lights out in front of a sold-out home crowd, improving to a perfect 8-0 in league competition in the Metroplex as they knocked off their instate rival Austin Gamblers with seeming ease, 257.5-87.5.

In recording the Rattlers’ first score, Daniel Keeping set the league record for recording a qualified ride in 10 consecutive games.

Keeping’s new league mark came less than an hour after 2024 PBR World Champion Cassio Dias etched his name in the PBR record books, marked 98.25 points on 2024 YETI PBR World Champion Bull Man Hater, the second highest score in PBR history, to propel the Kansas City Outlaws to victory against the Nashville Stampede.

Texas’ 170-point win allowed the Rattlers to win the final iteration of the 2024 Texas Cup and overtake the series lead against the Gamblers in 2024, now 2-1. The showdown is a renewal of the rivalry that determined the 2023 PBR Teams Championship.

The Rattlers struck first in the bottom of the second, rising to an 87.5-point lead on Keeping’s record-setting 8 seconds on Gas Money for 87.5 points.

After earning a re-ride in the first, Brady Fielder delivered the Rattlers’ second score prior to the fourth, besting Flyin’ Wired for 86 points, extending Texas’ lead to 173.5 points. With the score, Fielder gained ground in the 2024 PBR Teams MVP race, climbing within 22 points of No. 1 John Crimber.

The score forced Austin into a must-ride position in the top of the fourth, trailing by two ride scores with two outs remaining as Guilherme Valleiras settled in atop Bad Bad Bull. Unable to deliver for his team, Valleiras was launched in 1.22 seconds, cementing the win for Texas.

As the game concluded, Texas added a score from Marcelo Procopio Pereira, while Austin prevented a scoreless loss as their dialed-in closer Jose Vitor Leme made the whistle.

At game’s end, Texas beat Austin by 170 points, 257.5-87.5. The Rattlers are now 2-0 at their homestand and 14-11 this season, remaining No. 4 in the league. They will look to remain flawless in Fort Worth when they next play the 2022 PBR Teams Champion Nashville Stampede.

Austin remained No. 5 in PBR Teams, slipping to 1-1 at the event and 12-13 this season. They next play the league No. 1 Carolina Cowboys.

Earlier in the night, Dias’ historic ride on Man Hater propelled the Kansas City Outlaws to a 183-point, 359.75-176.75, win against the Nashville Stampede. The ride, which trails only the top score in PBR history, a 98.75-point ride from the Austin Gamblers’ Leme on Woopaa from the 2021 PBR World Finals, marked the third time in as many attempts Dias and Man Hater teamed for a score of 93.25 points or more.

During the ride, which is now the highest marked ride ever in the PBR Teams League, Man Hater was marked a nearly perfect 49.25 points, the second-best bull score in PBR history. The effort trails Man Hater’s record-setting 49.5-point trip logged in early September at the league event in Kansas City.

The showdown between the Outlaws and Stampede began in seesaw form, before Kansas City ran away with the game.

While Kansas City’s Sandro Batista rode Wingman for 85.75 points in the bottom of the first, Alan de Souza responded for Nashville in the top of the third, propelling his team to a 2.75-point lead courtesy of his 88.5-point ride on Spendin’ Cash. The two teams then exchanged rides in the fourth. After Cody Jesus rode Wild Card for 88.25 points for Nashville, Brennon Eldred topped Modified Ride for 88 points for Kansas City. As a result, both teams turned their attention to the fifth as Nashville led by 3 points, 176.75-173.75.

Courtesy of a re-ride earned in the third, Kansas City closer Dias moved to the lead-off position in the fifth as he renewed his showdown with Man Hater. The two teamed for a pair of monster 90-point rides during the 2024 Unleash The Beast campaign, including a regular-season best 94.75-point ride in February in Los Angeles. Bursting from the chutes, Dias was a near picture of perfection as the capacity crowd erupted into a deafening cheer. As Dias celebrated from atop the shark cage, waving to the crowd in a tribute to his hero Lane Frost, he was awarded his historic 98.25-point score.

Nashville then concluded the game with a buckoff from their fifth-man Kaiden Loud on Fast Flow, while the Outlaws tapped Julio Cesar Marques to attempt their re-ride bull Watch out, converting for 87.75 points.

At game’s end, Kansas City won by 183 points, 272-176.75, improving to 2-1 against Nashville in 2024. The Outlaws are now 1-1 at PBR Rattler Days and 17-8 this season, remaining No. 2 in PBR Teams. They next play the Oklahoma Wildcatters. The loss led Nashville to slip to 0-2 at the event and 11-14 this season, falling one position in the league standings from No. 6 to No. 7. They will look to rebound Sept. 28 when they play the host Texas Rattlers.

Following an opening night bye for PBR Rattler Days, the league No. 1 Carolina Cowboys made their presence known Friday evening in Fort Worth, earning a come-from-behind, 73.5-point win against the Arizona Ridge Riders, 244.25-170.75. Via the win, Carolina improved to a perfect 3-0 against Arizona in 2024.

Carolina set the tone for the game early as opener and 2016 PBR World Champion Cooper Davis bested Casper for 89 points in the top of the first. They remained a ride score ahead until the bottom of the second when an 84-point ride from Arizona’s Eduardo Aparecido on Coco inched them within 5 points of the lead.

The Cowboys then made a business decision in the top of the third, electing to keep a 69-point ride from Dawson Branton aboard Mojo Bone despite being offered a re-ride, as Carolina extended their lead to 74 points.

However, in the very next out, Arizona overtook the game lead for the first time in the five-on-five showdown, catapulted to a 12.75-point lead courtesy of an 86.75-point ride from Dener Barbosa on Shivers.

PBR’s bovine athletes then dominated the fourth, architecting a high-pressure fifth. In a must-ride position in the top of the fifth, Carolina closer Sage Kimzey converted by making the requisite 8 on Don’t Come Easy for 86.25 points, putting Carolina out front by 73.5 points.

The game then came down to Arizona closer Keyshawn Whitehorse paired with the unridden Come Apart. Whitehorse was whipped down in 2.76 seconds, cementing the win for the Carolina Cowboys, 244.25-170.75.

The Carolina Cowboys improve to 1-0 at the event and 17-6-1 this season, solidifying their grasp on the league No.1 rank.

Arizona concluded PBR Rattler Days 1-1, now 8-17 this season, as they remained No. 10 in the league. They have a bye on the final night of game play in Fort Worth.

The Missouri Thunder defeated the scoreless New York Mavericks with ease, winning by two ride scores, 173.25-0.00.

Missouri’s win was earned courtesy of scores from Paulo Eduardo Rossetto and Felipe Furlan as PBR’s animal athletes proved too much for the New York outfit to get past.

Missouri improved to 1-0 at the event and 11-14 this season, overtaking the series lead with New York 2-1. They also rose one position in the league standings, climbing from No. 7 to No. 6. New York slipped to 1-1 at the event and 10-15 across 2024, remaining No. 8 in the league.

The evening then concluded with the Shootout Round, featuring one rider from each of the winning teams. The Rattlers won the special round as Australian Fielder improved to a perfect 2-0 Friday night, riding Woody for an unrivaled 89.25 points. Fielder also overtook the lead in the 2024 PBR Teams MVP Race, now 22 points ahead of No. 2 Crimber. Crimber and the Florida Freedom were not in action Friday night, holding one of two byes.

Rattler Days concludes Saturday, September 28 at Dickies Arena. The competition begins nightly at 7:45 p.m. CDT.

League No. 1 Carolina Cowboys Earn Come-from-Behind Win Against Arizona Ridge Riders on Second Night of PBR Teams Competition in Fort Worth, Texas

Carolina Cowboys: 244.25
Arizona Ridge Riders: 170.75

FORT WORTH, Texas – Following an opening night bye, the league No. 1 Carolina Cowboys made their presence known Friday night inside Dickies Arena, earning a come-from-behind win against the No. 10 Arizona Ridge Riders by 73.5 points, 244.25-170.75, as PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Camping World Team Series action continued in Fort Worth, Texas. Carolina began the game with a bang. Opener Cooper Davis covered Casper with ease, propelling the Cowboys to a quick 89-point lead. Arizona then looked to their lead-off man to provide a rapid response, but Colten Fritzlan couldn’t get past Rafter P Construction’s Smooth Over It, hitting the ground inside Dickies Arena at the 5.17-second mark. In the top of the second, the Cowboys stumbled.

Trey Benton III proved no match for two-time YETI PBR World Champion Bull Ridin’ Solo, whipped down in 2.32 seconds. Arizona then capitalized in the very next out. Eduardo Aparecido topped Coco for 84 points, inching the Ridge Riders within 5 points of tying the game. During the out, Carolina challenged the call, believing Aparecido came down prior to the whistle, but PBR’s officials upheld the call in-arena, with Arizona’s score remaining in place, causing the Cowboys to lose their challenge for the remainder of the game. Carolina rebounded in quick form. As the third frame got underway, Dawson Branton bested Mojo Bone, and despite being offered a re-ride, Carolina elected to keep the 69-point score, growing their lead over Arizona to 74 points.

The Ridge Riders, however, made their presence known in the bottom of the third. Dener Barbosa rode Shivers for 86.75 points, pushing Arizona to their first lead of the game by 12.75 points. After PBR’s animal athletes dominated the fourth, with the scoreboard remaining 170.75-158, following a buckoff from Daylon Swearingen for Carolina and Bruno Carvalho for Arizona, both teams turned their attention to a high intensity fifth. As the final round of outs began, Carolina faced a must-ride position as seven-time PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) World Champion Sage Kimey settled in aboard Don’t Come Easy. After careful preparation in the chutes, Kimzey called for the gate, exploding into the arena. Matching the powerful animal athlete jump-for-jump, Kimzey reached the 8 with ease as the sold-out crowd erupted in boisterous cheer.

Marked a crucial 86.25 points, Kimzey’s clutch ride put Carolina back out front by 73.5 points. The game then came down to Arizona closer and 2018 PBR Rookie of the Year Keyshawn Whitehorse aboard an unridden Come Apart. While Whitehorse initially appeared centered, he was quickly unseated, brought down in 2.76 seconds, cementing the win for Carolina as they improved to a perfect 3-0 against Arizona in 2024. Courtesy of the win, Carolina improved to 1-0 at the event and 17-6-1 this season, furthering their grasp on the league No. 1 rank. They next play the Austin Gamblers when PBR Teams competition from Fort Worth concludes on Saturday, Sept. 28. For Arizona, now 1-1 at the event and 8-17 this season, they remained No. 10 in the PBR Teams standings and will now turn their sights to their homestand next weekend, holding a Saturday evening bye.

2024 PBR World Champion Cassio Dias Logs Second Highest Score Ever in PBR History to Propel the Kansas City Outlaws to Victory Against the Nashville Stampede During Friday Night’s PBR Teams Event inside Dickies Arena

Nashville Stampede: 176.75
Kansas City Outlaws: 359.75

FORT WORTH, Texas – Reigning PBR (Professional Bull Riders) World Champion Cassio Dias further etched his name in the organization’s record books Friday night in Fort Worth, propelling the Kansas City Outlaws to victory against the Nashville Stampede, 359.75-176.75, as he teamed with World Champion Bull Man Hater for 98.25 points, the second highest marked ride in PBR history. The ride is also the highest score ever in PBR Teams, while Man Hater’s 49.25-point contribution resulted in the second-best bull score ever in the PBR.

Nashville began the game pairing three-time PBR World Champion Silvano Alves with Cash On Black. While Alves appeared to be en route to logging the 526th qualified ride of his career in premier PBR competition, he was brought down in a close 6.31 seconds, resulting in no score for the Stampede. Kansas City made the most of the buckoff from the league’s 2022 World Champions in the bottom of the first. The Outlaws took control of the game by 85.75 points as Sandro Batista went the distance on Wingman. While Nashville Head Coach Justin McBride challenged the call, suspecting a slap, PBR’s officials did not see a slap, with the score remaining in place and Nashville losing their ability to challenge for the remainder of the game.

After PBR’s animal athletes took control of the game in the second, Nashville and Kansas City both looked to their third-out riders to reverse their fortunes. Snapping their backwards skid, Nashville overtook the lead in the top of the third by 2.75 points compliments of an 88.5-point ride from Alan de Souza on Spendin’ Cash. While Kansas City’s score did not change in the bottom of the frame, they were awarded a re-ride after Red Mosquito fouled himself during his trip with the Outlaws’ Koltin Hevalow. The intensity of the game ramped up in the fourth. Nashville began the penultimate round of outs with an 88.25-point ride from Cody Jesus on Wild Card, growing their lead to a full ride score and 91 points. However, Kansas City quickly climbed within 3 points of the game lead following an 88-point ride from Brennon Eldred atop Modified Ride. With a re-ride attempt remaining, Kansas City moved into the lead-off position in the top of the fifth.

In the position was reigning PBR World Champion Dias renewing his rivalry with fellow 2024 World Champion Bull Man Hater. The two faced off twice during the 2024 Unleash The Beast season, teaming for 94.75 points in February in Los Angeles, in what would remain the high-marked ride of the regular season, and then for 93.25 points a month later in Albuquerque, New Mexico. What awaited was a ride of historic proportions. Nodding with confidence, Dias burst from the chutes inside a sold-out Dickies Arena. Remaining in perfect time with the high-flying animal athlete, Dias delivered a near-picture perfect ride, marked a historic 98.25 points. The ride is now the second-highest marked ride in PBR history, trailing only Jose Vitor Leme’s 98.75-point ride on Woopaa from the 2021 PBR World Finals, and the top score of all-time in the PBR Teams League. During the trip, Man Hater posted a head-turning 49.25-point score, the second-best bull score in PBR history, trailing only Man Hater’s out from early September when he was marked 49.5 points. The mammoth score led Kansas City to overtake the game lead by a commanding 95.25 points, as the scoreboard read 272-176.75. With the Outlaws’ bench buzzing, Nashville concluded their efforts Friday night with 2.64-second buckoff from Kaiden Loud on Fast Flow.

Kansas City then punctuated their memorable game with their fourth qualified ride. Julio Cesar Marques was tapped to attempt the team’s re-ride bull Watch Out, besting him for 87.75 points. When the dust settled, Kansas City won by a commanding 183 points, 359.75-176.75. The victory led the Outlaws to improve to 1-1 at PBR Rattler Days and 17-8 this season as they remained No. 2 in the league ahead of their Saturday evening showdown with the Oklahoma Wildcatters. For Nashville, they fell to 0-2 at the event and 11-14 this season, slipping from No. 6 to No. 7 in the league. They will next play the host Texas Rattlers on Sept. 28 in Fort Worth.

Missouri Thunder Defeat the Scoreless New York Mavericks by Two Ride Scores on Second Night of PBR Teams Competition in the Lone Star State

Missouri Thunder:173.25
New York Mavericks: 0.00

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Missouri Thunder made their Rattler Days debut with a bang Friday night, beating the scoreless New York Mavericks with ease, 173.25-0.00. Via the win, Missouri overtook the series lead against New York, now 2-1 in 2024. Missouri jumped to the game lead in the top of the first and never looked back. They were the first to strike as Paulo Eduardo Rossetto covered Constant Payne for a game-best 89.75 points. New York failed to respond in the bottom of the frame as Leonardo Castro came down in 5.66 seconds on Margy Kat. The scoreboard then went unchanged through the second and third frames as PBR’s animal athletes dominated.

Missouri then turned to Felipe Furlan to right their momentum in the top of the fourth, paired with Smooth Steel. Delivering for his team, Furlan made the 8 for 83.5 points, growing Missouri’s lead to 173.25 points. Now down by two ride scores with just two Maverick riders remaining, New York faced a must-ride position in the bottom of the fourth. While Hudson Bolton initially appeared centered on Soul Train, he was unseated at 5.55 seconds, cementing the win for Missouri. Much like the mid-point of the game, PBR’s animal athletes headlined the final outs of the game as the scoreboard went unchanged.

When the dust settled, Missouri improved to 1-0 at the event and 11-14 this season as they beat New York 173.25-0.00. They rose one position in the league standings, climbing from No. 7 to No. 6. The Thunder will look to continue their winning ways Saturday night when they play the Florida Freedom. The loss led New York to conclude PBR Rattler Days 1-1, now 10-15 across the season, still No. 8 in the league. They will have a bye on the final night of league competition inside Dickies Arena.

Texas Rattlers Remain Undefeated in Fort Worth, Winning the Final Iteration of the 2024 Texas Cup During Friday Night’s Sold-Out PBR Teams Event at Dickies Arena

Austin Gamblers: 87.5
Texas Rattlers: 257.5

FORT WORTH, Texas – The 2023 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Teams Champion Texas Rattlers remained undefeated at home in Fort Worth, Texas, Friday evening, impressing the sold-out crowd in Dickies Arena with a 170-point defeat of their instate rival Austin Gamblers, winning the final iteration of the 2024 Texas Cup 257.5-87.5. Since the launch of the PBR Teams league in 2022, the Rattlers have ridden a lights out, 8-0 when competing in Fort Worth, including Friday night’s win against Austin, a repeat of the showdown that earned the Rattlers the 2024 PBR Teams Championship.

Via the win, Texas overtook the series lead with Austin in 2024, now 2-1. Austin looked to begin their game in rival territory with a score from 2018 PBR World Champion Kaique Pacheco on Big Chili. The “Ice Man” however was unsuccessful, called for a slap at the 3.86 second mark. While the Rattlers were unable to respond with a score, they were awarded a re-ride as Big Red Train fouled himself during his out with Brady Fielder. The Gamblers suffered another heart-breaking no score in the top of the first. This time, Lucas Divino hit the ground in a close 7.59 seconds after being whipped down by Punchy Pete. PBR Teams history was made in the bottom of the second.

Not only did Daniel Keeping give Texas the game lead, riding Gas Money for 87.5 points, but he extended his consecutive ride streak to 10, now the longest ever by a rider in the league. Texas and Austin then exchanged buckoffs in the third. The Gamblers, however, also lost their challenge as they asked PBR’s officials to look for a foul during Callum Miller’s trip with Whacky Wizard, which they did not find. Before the fourth, Fielder attempted Texas’ re-ride draw Flyin Wired. While he was awarded yet another re-ride, Texas Head Coach Cody Lambert elected to keep the 86-point score as the Rattlers extended their lead to 173.5 points. The win also allowed Fielder to gain crucial ground in the PBR Teams MVP race. While he remained No. 2, he closed within 67.25 points of No. 1 John Crimber.

As the fourth began, Austin found themselves in a must-ride position, down by two ride scores with just two riders remaining. In the high-pressure moment was Guilherme Valleiras on Bad Bad Bull. Valleiras, however, failed to deliver for the Gamblers, hitting the ground in 1.22 seconds to cement the win for Texas. With the victory in hand, the Rattlers extended their lead to 257.5 points in the bottom of the fourth following an 84-point score from Marcelo Procopio Pereira atop Bootlegger. Austin was able to stave off a scoreless defeat in the top of the fifth. Their closer and two-time PBR Teams MVP Jose Vitor Leme dominated Killer Instinct for 87.5 points, to cut Texas’ lead to 170 points. The game then concluded with a Texas buckoff. Eli Vastbinder was launched by Manaba in 4.11 seconds.

Despite the buckoff at the end the game, the Texas Rattlers won the final iteration of the 2024 Texas Cup by 170 points, beating their instate rival Austin Gamblers 257.5-87.5. The Rattlers are now 2-0 at their third annual homestand, improving to 14-11 this season, furthering their hold on the No. 4 rank in the league. They will look to remain flawless in Fort Worth when they play the 2022 PBR Teams Champion Nashville Stampede on Saturday, Sept. 28. For Austin, who remained No. 5 in the league, they slipped to 1-1 at the event and 12-13 this season, keen to rebound when they next play the league No. 1 Carolina Cowboys.
