NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – For the seventh time in the sport’s history, PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour will buck into North Charleston, South Carolina, returning to North Charleston Coliseum January 10-11, 2025, with PBR North Charleston.
For two nights only, some of the best bull riders in the world will battle the sport’s rankest bovine athletes in the ultimate showdown of man vs. beast in one of the most exciting and unpredictable live sporting events to witness.
PBR’s return to North Charleston comes on the spurs of one of the organization’s most dynamic individual seasons in 2024 as the Velocity Tour held 30 regular-season events across four months, including 12 weekends with two events held simultaneously. Welcoming more than 348,000 fans throughout the season, the Velocity Tour hosted 18 sold-out event days, marking its most successful season in attendance since its inception in 2015.
The upcoming PBR North Charleston will be one of the first events of the new individual season for the PBR’s expansion series. Eventgoers will watch on as riders vie for crucial points in the race to be crowned the 2025 PBR Velocity Tour Champion.
When PBR’s Velocity Tour was last in North Charleston in February 2024, Dustin Herman (Dudley Shoals, North Carolina) rode lights out, delivering a perfect 3-for-3 performance to win the event in the Palmetto State.
After riding Hells Bells (Blue Ridge Bucking Bulls/Triple T) for 85.5 points in Round 1, Herman punched his ticket to the championship round when he went the distance on Dang, Dang (Burkham Contracting Inc.) for 84.5 points in Round 2.
The North Carolinian then squared off with Rattlesnake Shake (TDS/Buentello Bucking Bulls 2) in the championship round. Nodding with confidence, Herman burst from the chutes inside North Charleston Coliseum matching the bovine athlete jump-for-jump en route to the whistle as the capacity crowd erupted in raucous cheer. Awarded a round-best 86.5 points, the qualified ride clinched the event win for Herman.
As the 2024 PBR Velocity Tour season continued, Herman logged three additional Top 10 finishes before finishing the year No. 42 in the standings. When the dust settled, however, it was 2023 PBR North Charleston event winner Grayson Cole (New Ringgold, Pennsylvania), going 2-for-3 to finish third at the 2024 iteration of the event, who was crowned the 2024 PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Champion, earning the accompanying $50,000 bonus.
Other past PBR North Charleston event winners include: Michael Lane (2022), Jesse Petri (2021), Alex Cerqueira (2020) and Tye Chandler (2018).
The bull riding action for PBR North Charleston begins with Round 1 at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, January 10, followed by Round 2 and the championship round at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, January 11. All 40 competing bull riders will get on one bull each in Round 1. The Top 36 riders from Round 1 will advance to Round 2 Saturday evening. The riders’ individual two-round scores will be totaled with the Top 10 advancing to the championship round for one more out and a chance at the event title.
