For two nights only, some of the best bull riders in the world will duel with some of the rankest bovine competitors bred to buck in a must-see showdown that is only coming to town once in 2025.
In 2024, Marco Rizzo (Quitman, Georgia) rode supreme to win his first event buckle in the PBR.
Currently a rider for the New York Mavericks on the separate PBR Camping World Team Series, Rizzo got off to a strong start in Round 1, roaring out of the chutes on Blue Suede Shoes (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls) for 85.5 points, tying for second in the opening round.
Now in a groove, he sat tall atop Bossed Up (Blake Sharp) for 86 points in Round 2 to catapult to the top of the leaderboard.
While he was bucked off First Class (Dave Martin/Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) in 6.7 seconds during the final round, he had already done enough to win his first PBR belt buckle.
The Charleston Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour stop is the sixth event of the season. In 2024, the Velocity Tour hosted more than 356,000 fans, setting 16 event attendance records, while selling out 20 event days.
The bull riding action for 2025 PBR Charleston begins at 8 p.m. EST on Friday, January 17, and 7 p.m. EST on Saturday, January 18 at Charleston Coliseum.
Forty (40) bull riders will get on one bull in Round 1. Round 2 on Saturday evening will feature the Top 36 riders from Round 1; the riders’ individual two-round scores will then be totaled, with the Top 10 advancing to the championship round for one more out and a chance at the event title.
Tickets for the two-day event are available on Ticketmaster on Monday, September 30, at 10:00 a.m. EDT and start at $20, taxes and fees not included. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com, at PBR.com or by calling PBR customer service at 1-800-732-1727. Tickets are also available at the Charleston Coliseum Box Office.
