Oklahoma Wildcatters acquire Tate Pollmeier from Carolina Cowboys

No. 1 Cowboys, No. 8 Wildcatters mixing it up ahead of PBR Teams: Anaheim

By James Youness

PUEBLO, Colo. – With news breaking Tuesday afternoon that the Oklahoma Wildcatters acquired Tate Pollmeier from the Carolina Cowboys in exchange for future considerations, the PBR Camping World Team Series action continues to stay spicy with just four events remaining before the 2024 PBR Teams Championship.

Teams will need to lock in their official rosters here sooner than later, with the official league trade deadline looming. But for now, swaps are fair game, and the pair of blue-based squads opted into the circuit’s latest exchange.

Oklahoma adds a lefty who’s shown some flashes over the years. He just wasn’t able to crack the Cowboys’ stacked starting lineup much in 2024, 0-for-1 on the season so far.

Which makes sense given the likes of Cooper Davis, Derek Kolbaba, Adriano Salgado, Daylon Swearingen and Sage Steele Kimzey have been one of the most electric groups of the summer as they continue to lead their team to success, currently 14-3-1 ahead of this weekend’s PBR Teams: Anaheim.

Carolina's General Manager Austin Dillon shared a message on the team's Instagram account Tuesday, thanking the youngster for his time with the organization:

"The Carolina Cowboys want to thank Tate Pollmeier for being a big part of the Cowboys' first half of the 2024 season in the PBR Teams Series. We wish him well with the Oklahoma Wildcatters and he will always be a part of the Carolina Cowboys family."

And with both Dawson Branton and Ethan Winckler having stepped up and shown promise this season, it was mostly a numbers game for Carolina.

With injuries coming into play in parts of both his 2022 and 2023 seasons with the Kansas City Outlaws and then-Oklahoma Freedom, he’s just 3-for-19 all-time in the 5-on-5 landscape.

However, during his rookie Unleash The Beast campaign back in 2023, the Fort Scott, Kansas, cowboy turned in a No. 16 finish via his 14-for-55 effort. While he wasn’t able to secure a career-first premier series event title, he managed a quality seven Top 10 performances (including four Top 5 results: second, third, fifth, fifth).

At just 20 years old, he couldn’t have picked a better team to continue to learn and grow with than the ever-youthful Wildcatters. Head Coach J.B. Mauney has been mixing some of his youngsters into the lineup pretty regularly lately, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Pollmeier makes his debut with the new squad sooner than later.

Especially when the team confirmed he’ll be with his new year one squad this weekend out west, via their Instagram account:

BREAKING NEWS! The Oklahoma Wildcatters have acquired Tate Pollmeier from the Carolina Cowboys in exchange for future considerations. Tate will be travelling to Anaheim to compete for the team. Wildcatters, help us welcome the newest member of our squad! #RideWild

Acquired by Carolina ahead of the 2024 campaign in exchange for Conner Halverson, will we see the talent ride for his fourth team Friday night in Anaheim?

PBR fans can keep an eye on this week’s transactions to see if the Cowboys add anyone to their roster ahead of the ninth regular season showdown of the season, as well as staying up to date with all things in the PBR Camping World Team Series world!
