By Andrew Hatfield

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – As the dirt settled on the final day of PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Teams: Thunder Days at Great Southern Bank Arena in Springfield, Missouri, the hometown Missouri Thunder (7-10) overwhelmed the league-leading Carolina Cowboys (12-2-1), 260.25-89.25, to take home their first win at home.

After three consecutive buckoffs to start the contest, the Thunder’s Boudreaux Campbell finally broke through, posting a monstrous 90.25 points on Baldy, the second-highest score of the weekend. As the usually consistent Cowboys struggled to find their footing in the Show Me State, the Thunder continued to roll, with Dawson Gleaves sealing the victory in the bottom of the fourth frame aboard God Bless America for 85.25 points. While Sage Kimzey ended the shutout for Carolina by topping Tchoupitoulas for 89.5 points, Missouri’s Paulo Eduardo Rossetto got the last laugh, barely hanging on to Wingman for 84.75 points to put a cherry on top of Missouri’s victory.

After going 1-2 on their homestand, Missouri is ranked No. 8 in the PBR Teams standings, while Carolina barely maintains the No. 1 spot after splitting their two-game stint in Springfield.

The Florida Freedom (8-8) outdueled the Austin Gamblers (8-8), 348.75-172.75, in the first game on Sunday.

Alex Cerqueira got Florida out to an early lead, riding Huckleberry for 82 points. After Kaique Pacheco converted to steal the lead back for Austin, Joao Lucas Campos stormed out of the chutes on Down Payment and put the Freedom up for good, posting an 88.75-point ride. Alfonso Quintino converted in Florida’s next out to extend the lead, riding I’m Legit Too for 87.5 points.

With the game already decided, John Crimber and Jose Vitor Leme put on a show for the fans in the final frame. Crimber posted the first 90-point ride of the weekend, scoring a monstrous 90.5 points on Simon to briefly take the No. 1 spot in the MVP standings. The back-to-back PBR Teams MVP answered, covering Peterbilt for 88.25 points to take the No. 1 spot right back from the 19-year-old.

Florida’s 2-1 performance in Missouri pushed them to No. 3 in the PBR Teams standings, while the Gamblers head to Kansas City at No. 4 after a 1-1 weekend.

After having their six-game win streak ended Saturday night, the Kansas City Outlaws (11-5) rebounded to defeat the Nashville Stampede (7-9) in the second game of the day.

Sandro Batista completed a flawless weekend on Artic Lights to extend his ride streak to five and give the Outlaws an early 84.5-point lead. Missourian Koltin Hevalow built on that lead in the top of the second, posting an 88.25-point outing on Riser for his second qualified ride of the weekend. After four consecutive buckoffs, Kaiden Loud finally broke through for the Stampede, riding Sky’s The Limit for 85.75 points, but Outlaws closer Cassio Dias shut the door on Nashville in the top of the fifth, covering Cy Young for 82.75 points.

The Outlaws enter their homestand next weekend ranked No. 2 in the PBR Teams standings, while Nashville heads to Kansas City ranked No. 6 after going 0-2 in Springfield.

The third game of the day saw the Arizona Ridge Riders (6-10) hand the New York Mavericks (7-9) their first loss at Great Southern Bank Arena, 243.75-0.

Eduardo Aparecido remained red-hot for the Ridge Riders, topping Late Hit for 71 points, and his teammates JaCauy Hale and Luciano De Castro also made the 8 as Arizona easily took care of the Mavericks, who failed to reach the whistle on Sunday.

Despite a 2-1 weekend, Arizona is still No. 10 in the standings after the action concluded in Springfield, while the Mavericks are ranked No. 7 after a 1-1 split.

Game Recaps –

Freedom Record Four Rides to Outduel Austin Gamblers in First Game of Thunder Days on Sunday

Florida Freedom: 348.75 Austin Gamblers: 172.75

In the first game of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Teams: Thunder Days’ final day of bull riding, the Florida Freedom (8-8) downed the Austin Gamblers (8-8), 348.75-172.75.

Alex Cerqueira was first to buck on Sunday, sharing a chute with Huckleberry. The duo burst out of the chutes and moved in perfect time, posting an 82-point ride to give Florida the lead. Austin’s Dalton Kasel looked to match that for the Gamblers aboard Rockville and initially sat tall, but the powerful bovine competitor once again bucked Kasel off in the Show Me State, this time in 7.34 seconds.

Florida turned to Eric Henrique Domingos to extend their lead on Wasted Nights, but he was unable to convert, losing the rope after 4.44 seconds. However, Florida was awarded a re-ride, so the Freedom still had four outs left as Austin’s Kaique Pacheco took on Let’s Roll in the bottom of the second frame. The Ice Man gave the nod and, after the bull paused briefly as the gate opened, the pair completed the 8-second tango for 84.5 points to give the Gamblers the lead.

Yan Victor Cunha had a chance to take back the lead for the Freedom in his PBR Teams debut, but Dark Thoughts proved too much for the Brazilian, bucking him off in 6.32 seconds. Next out of the gate was Florida’s Joao Lucas Campos, who was a member of the Thunder during last year’s Thunder Days, and he converted in the Show Me State once again, topping Down Payment for 88.75 points.

Now behind by one ride score, Lucas Divino attempted to give the Gamblers back the lead aboard Miller Time, but he was bucked off after 2.98 seconds. After bucking off in his debut on Saturday night, Afonso Quintino bounced back and, after initially being called for a slap at the four-second mark, scored 87.5 points on I’m Legit Too.

Now in a must-ride situation, Austin’s Ramon de Lima looked to keep the Gamblers in the game, but he was unable to hang on to Knucklehead, bucking off after 7.14 seconds and securing the win for Florida

Looking to climb in the MVP standings, John Crimber took Florida’s final out and moved in perfect time with Simon to post the first 90-point ride of the weekend, scoring 90.5 points and catapulting the young phenom to the top of the MVP standings. Now sitting at No. 2 behind Crimber in the MVP race, Jose Vitor Leme roared out of the chutes and took the No. 1 spot right back, covering Peterbilt for 88.25 points.
