2024 PBR Teams trade deadline passes; playoff rosters are set

Rosters are now finalized ahead of the 2024 PBR Camping World Teams Championship in Las Vegas on Oct. 18-20.

By Darci Miller

FORT WORTH, Texas – Pencils down.

Today, Sept. 25, is the 2024 PBR Camping World Team Series trade deadline and playoff roster lock date, and all 10 teams have their final rosters set for their chase of the world’s largest gold buckle.

With teams able to lock in up to seven riders to their respective Protected Roster and an additional five to their Reserve Roster (plus up to two riders on Injured Reserve), each organization has finalized the 12-14 riders it will carry into the final two events of the season and heading into the 2024 PBR Teams Championship in Las Vegas Oct. 18-20.

During the final two regular-season events and the Championship, teams will be allowed to release riders from either their Protected Roster or Reserve Roster but will not be permitted to sign free agents until the conclusion of 2024 competition. (If a team releases a rider from its Protected Roster, he can be replaced by a Reserve Roster rider. If a team releases a rider from its Reserve Roster, he cannot be replaced.)

The only instance in which a team can sign a free agent for the remainder of the season is if it delegates a rider from the Reserve Roster to Injured Reserve. This is the only way for a rider who was not on a team’s locked roster by Sept. 25 to join a team.

There’s been a flurry of trade activity in recent weeks, as rosters have been constantly in flux.

In the last two weeks, we’ve seen the following major moves:

The Carolina Cowboys traded Tate Pollmeier to the Oklahoma Wildcatters for future considerations.

The New York Mavericks traded Braidy Randolph and their 2025 second-round draft pick to the Texas Rattlers for Mason Taylor.

The Oklahoma Wildcatters acquired Bob Mitchell by Document of Intent from the Kansas City Outlaws.

Eli Vastbinder was dropped by the Arizona Ridge Riders and signed with the Texas Rattlers.

The Kansas City Outlaws traded Wingson Henrique da Silva to the Oklahoma Wildcatters for their 2025 first-round draft pick and future considerations.

The deadline passed on Wednesday with only a few minor moves made: the Cowboys signed Manoelito de Souza Jr., the Florida Freedom signed Lucas Martins Costa, and the Wildcatters signed Dustin Herman, all to their respective reserve rosters.

There’s also been some movement on the Injured Reserve front: the Wildcatters have gotten Clay Guiton back and the Mavericks’ Marco Rizzo has joined the squad, while Arizona’s Luciano De Castro and Carolina’s Derek Kolbaba have both been moved to IR.

With just a handful of games remaining in the regular season, here’s where each team stands heading into this weekend’s Rattler Days in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sept. 26-28:
