Week 5 PBR Camping World Team Series power rankings
Carolina, Austin stay atop the pack while Mavericks ditch No. 10 spot following 2-0 showcase.
PUEBLO, Colo. — After seeing the (4-5) New York Mavericks start the season with an unfortunate, yet understandable, 0-4 record, Head Coach Kody Lostroh and just about everybody else in the industry likely had some questions, if not concerns.
But as the team continues to heal up and strengthen their bond in the locker room, they’re one of the hottest squads on tour lately, now 4-1 within their last five matchups.

Two of those wins came this past weekend, as the contingent hosted its first-ever PBR Teams: Maverick Days celebration inside Barclays Center. Becoming the first team to stay undefeated at their respective homestand event this season, New York picked up big wins over the (5-4) Kansas City Outlaws and (4-5) Florida Freedom en route to exiting the basement of both the official league standings and weekly power rankings.
Having occupied the No. 10 spot in both talent-measuring big boards for the first four weeks of action, that’s no longer the case for the red and navy squad, as they enter Week 5’s slate in Nashville, Tennessee, ranked No. 8.
They don’t quite yet have the perfect formula that the (7-0-1) Carolina Cowboys have established, who continue to dominate league competition while avoiding the loss column. But the Mavericks have taken several encouraging steps in improving their product.
And they couldn’t have picked a better time to figure it out than before thousands of their brand-new supporters.
"Forget About It!" Hudson Bolton Scores 85.75 for New York Mavericks in front of their home crowd
Carolina will remain in the driver’s seat if they keep up their fiery efforts.
But if there’s one team who’s doing all they can to catch up to the runaway group, it’s the (5-3) Austin Gamblers. Who, just like New York, experienced an imperfect start to the campaign, but have pieced things together as the season has progressed.
Jose Vitor Leme is back to world title-contending form, now 8-for-9 on the season. Veterans like Ramon de Lima and Ezekiel Mitchell have been stepping up as well. So, when Dalton Kasel makes his way back into the lineup and Kaique Pacheco regains his typical flare, this is very much Carolina’s biggest threat for the 2024 honors.
But for every contest’s victor, there’s a corresponding losing unit, which has been the (2-7) Texas Rattlers and (3-5) Missouri Thunder too frequently, as of late. The Rattlers are riding quite the nasty losing streak, having dropped six in a row despite being the reigning PBR Teams Champions. The Thunder, unfortunately, haven’t been doing much better, victorious in just two of their last six games.
There’s still plenty of time for both of the squads to figure things out ahead of the quickly approaching postseason session in Las Vegas. And with seven of the league’s teams currently rocking four or five wins, respectively, this thing is 100% still wide-open for the taking.
With four of 12 regular season events already in the book, the PBR Camping World Team Series is officially one-third of the way into its third season of 5-on-5 action.
Carolina and Austin have declared their intentions to remain two of the spiciest squads in the pack. But with six other spots up for grabs for the 2024 PBR Teams Championship inside T-Mobile Arena, scenarios are only going to become more dramatic – and rides more valuable – as the ever-entertaining format continues to thrill fans around the world!
The camaraderie-driven action continues this weekend inside Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, with all of this summer’s action set to air on Merit Street and the Merit+ App, continuing Friday night at 9 p.m. EST.
Fans can stay tuned to the league’s official 2024 PBR Camping World Teams Series standings here throughout the season and are encouraged to share their own rankings with us on @PBR social media channels!
No. 1: Carolina Cowboys (Week 4 Rank: No. 1)
There’s no reason to beat around the bush here, as the league-leading Carolina Cowboys are the easiest of 10 teams to rank once again this week. With their Week 3 tie against the Oklahoma Wildcatters representing the only contest in which they haven’t exited with a W, the 7-0-1 unit continues to line up bulls and KNOCK THEM DOWN.
Sage Kimzey Puts the Exclamation Point on Carolina's Win - The Train Keeps Rolling with 87.5 Points
Seeing youngster Ethan Winckler get in on the fun, winning Friday night’s Shootout Round courtesy of his career-first PBR Teams conversion, teams around the league don’t have to just worry about the squad’s starting five, who continue to deliver for Carolina. We don’t have to double down on those guys’ respective records again, though. Just check the top of the PBR Teams MVP race and you’ll see some success. If this team stays healthy, they’ll be in the fast lane to Las Vegas with the support of Richard Childress, Austin Dillon and beyond.

No. 2: Austin Gamblers (Week 4 Rank: No. 2)
They’re back. They’re here. And they’ve got a four-game win streak going despite missing Dalton Kasel and only getting three qualified rides from “The Ice Man” Kaique Pacheco so far. We’ve already seen the top-tier trio get the job done together, so we know this team is lethal when firing on all cylinders. But they've been doing just fine lately. While they’ll be happy to see Kasel back in the lineup sooner than later, Ezekiel Mitchell, Ramon de Lima, Callum Miller and company will keep holding it down for Austin. But it’s the two-time PBR Teams MVP in Jose Vitor Leme which has allowed them to soar once more.
How Do You Like That?! Jose Vitor Leme's MONSTER 91.25 Ride on John 14:6
There aren’t many riders above Leme in the MVP standings heading into Week 5. And for the few that are up there, they can’t feel great knowing “Champ” himself has been on a heater. Between clinching the team’s win at Maverick Days and following it up with a Shootout Round win, his spiciest out of the season, it’s a good time to be rocking green and black.
No. 3: Kanas City Outlaws (Week 4 Rank: No. 4)
With Carolina and Austin occupying their identical rankings from Week 4, it’s the Kansas City Outlaws who represent our first movers this time around. Cassio Dias has been experiencing a bit of a slump lately, so it’s been a bit more of a team effort than normal for J.W. Hart and friends. Which is fine as long as they keep winning some games. Sitting at the No. 3 spot in both the official league standings and this week’s iteration of the power rankings, they’ve looked to Brennon Eldred, Sandro Batista and Koltin Hevalow to get the job done lately.

Which again, is fine for now, as we know that the Outlaws have plenty of capable cowboys. And that Dias will bounce back sooner than later. And as long as the team stays in the top half of the standings and regularly secures some wins as he figures it out, they’ll be just fine in 2024. Drawing the Austin Gamblers and Oklahoma Wildcatters this weekend in Music City, we expect Dias to perform closer to his breakout session inside Bridgestone Arena from last season than what he’s been bringing to the table lately. Either way, the Outlaws remain one of the league’s top dawgs.
No. 4: Oklahoma Wildcatters (Week 4 Rank: No. 3)
Dropping just one spot after surrendering an 84.75-0 decision to the Nashville Stampede in Brooklyn, New York, it wasn’t the loss itself which stands out. It’s the zero, as it’s the team’s second no-score effort in their last five games. Regularly balancing out those down games with plenty of productive nights, J.B. Mauney’s Wildcatters have the talent to make a run. And at 4-4-1 on the season, it’s not time to hit the panic button yet. Plenty of teams would love to have that record right now. Yet, it's only half of a game ahead of the many 4-5 teams right now. If youngsters in Clay Guiton, Ederson Santos and Cort McFadden can get back in the ride column this weekend in Nashville, they’ll be fine during their showdowns against the Outlaws and Missouri Thunder.
Home Team Victory! Clay Guiton's 89.25 Points on Boujee Boy Thrills the Crowd
Oklahoma Wildcatter's Clay Guiton's ride on Boujee Boy for 89.25 points in Game 4 on Day 3 of the 2024 PBR Teams: Wildcatters Days in Oklahoma City, OK
The rare two-game weekend inside Barclays Center was an anomaly in itself, as crews generally like strumming together some momentum. Oklahoma, however, only made one appearance in the Northeast, so they’ll look to get back on the same page while occupying the No. 4 spot in Week 5.
No. 5 Arizona Ridge Riders (Week 4 Rank: No. 5)
The Arizona Ridge Riders may have fallen to the No. 6 spot in the official standings but we’re keeping them at No. 5 here as the talent on that team is still top-notch. They’ve been missing the talents of Nick Tetz lately, who is expected to be back in the fold here sooner than later. But they have plenty of other guys who started the season red-hot who have endured a bit of a slow stretch. Keyshawn Whitehorse was amongst the league’s MVP frontrunners coming into Week 4, but after going rideless in the Concrete Jungle, he’s cool down a bit. Veterans Luciano De Castro and Eduardo Aparecido provided the squad’s lone conversions, just 2-for-10 on the weekend, so it’s definitely not all on Whitehorse. They need some more QRs if they want to stay competitive, which is the likely case here. Head Coach Colby Yates has worked Chase Dougherty into the lineup lately, so Arizona would surely welcome a spark from he or any of the team's other riders as they prepare to faceoff against the Missouri Thunder and hometown Nashville Stampede.
No. 6: Nashville Stampede (Week 4 Rank: No. 8)
This weekend’s hometown team in the Nashville Stampede have been the definition of a roller coaster this season. Picking up sets of wins, and losses, within the same weekend, in back-and-forth fashion, they’ve endured some of the highest highs and lowest lows this season. But bringing a 5-4 record into their homestand after sweeping the Oklahoma Wildcatters and Texas Rattlers in New York, they’re coming into the home of the NHL’s Nashville Predators with plenty of good vibes.
Alan de Souza Takes on UTZ BesTex Legend for 88.75 Points
Kaiden Loud continues to heal up while veterans in Alan de Souza, Cody Teel, Silvano Alves and folks hold it down until the youngster returns. While his health and ability to compete over the long stretch, hopefully leading into an appearance in Las Vegas, is priority No. 1, it will be hard for Head Coach Justin McBride to keep his star out of the opening night lineup come Friday. Ranked No. 6 this week, the highest of the season, they need to prove they’re closer to contenders than pretenders this weekend behind the support of their rowdy hometown crowd.
No. 7 Florida Freedom (Week 4 Rank: No. 6)
It may not feel right to have the squad which features the league’s current MVP leader in John Crimber all the way down at No. 7, as he’s truly been impressive during his rookie 5-on-5 campaign. But the youngster, who recently celebrated his 19th birthday, needs some help from guys like Caden Bunch and Elizmar Jeremias if the red, white and blue squad wants to flourish in 2024. Yet, as long as Crimber continues throwing down rank conversions, they’ll be in more than their fair share of battles.
The Sunshine State goes WILD! John Crimber Dominates Whip with 89.5 Points for the Freedom
The team’s combined aggregate score of 1,443.75 points is more than each of the three squads ranked below them in the league standings. But of the six teams sitting above them in the standings, only one has racked up fewer points, (the Wildcatters’ 1,435.75 points). Crimber can shine as bright as the Florida sun, but Head Coach Paulo Crimber needs to get more out of the rest of the guys in that locker room if they want to bring a championship back to the beach.
No. 8: New York Mavericks (Week 4 Rank: No. 10)
Fans of the Brooklyn-based contingent have been waiting for their team to be featured literally anywhere else other than the No. 10 spot. Well, the time has come, as Kody Lostroh mixed up the perfect formula last weekend in coaching his team to a HUGE 2-0 record. Now 4-1 in their last five games, the Mavericks are having fun right now.
NY Mavericks Dominate at Home! Moreira's 88.25-Point Ride
Seeing rookie Hudson Bolton step up during his 5-on-5 debut, the youngster managed a flawless 2-for-2 effort, which included the only 8-second effort of Saturday night’s finale. This kid can ride and may be a huge piece for New York in the long run. And when you consider Marco Rizzo continues to trend toward his own PBR Camping World Team Series debut, which could come any week now, they could have a hard-hitting duo of rookies here sooner than later. Seeing the team drum up the franchise’s first-ever three-score outing on Friday, things are trending up for the expansion squad. The true question lies in how long they can keep securing some wins despite missing several regulars in Vitor Losnake, Leonardo Castro and beyond.
No. 9: Missouri Thunder (Week 4 Rank: No. 7)
They’re ahead of the Texas Rattlers in wins, rides, ride percentage, aggregate score and cash earned. But the league’s eight other teams are ranked higher in a majority of those categories, so there isn’t much for the Thunder to celebrate heading into Week 5. The big takeaway from last weekend, however, is that they are still very capable of competing with some of the circuit’s top threats. Evident as such Saturday, as they forced Jose Vitor Leme into must-ride territory in the bottom of the fifth. But as the league’s all-time leader in walk-off wins (nine), he’s literally the last guy they’d want to be facing in that situation. That doesn’t take away from the latest flash we saw from Paulo Eduardo Rossetto, though.
Paulo Rossetto Keeps Missouri Thunder in the Game with 88.25 on Tijuana Two Step!
Pacing the squad with his 4-for-8 record, he’s been a bright spot for the Thunder, who bring the league’s only 3-6 record into Nashville this weekend. But with three different teams sitting directly above them at 4-5, a favorable showing in Music City could go a long way for Head Coach Ross Coleman’s unit. Expect some fireworks Friday when they go head-to-head with the Ridge Riders.
No. 10: Texas Rattlers (Week 4 Rank: No. 9)
We’re not saying this is a Championship hangover. Even though it looks, smells and feels like a bit of one. We know Cody Lambert allowed the boys to soak in the suds last fall, but that was a long time ago. And while a majority of the team returned to the Rattlers in 2024, it just doesn’t look like the same product at this point in the season. Having endued quite a few no-score efforts this season, including Saturday night when they dropped a 345.25-0 bout to the Stampede, something is off this time around. Knowing Lambert, we don’t think it’s the bull matchups. And having sent Cody Jesus to the Stampede in exchange for Mason Taylor last week, they’ve been rather open about their struggles and recognizing the need for a change of pace. There’s not much you can do about drawing the Carolina Cowboys on Friday night. But there’s always something they can do about competing, and that’s riding bulls. Seeing their opponents go a combined 8-for-10 in Brooklyn, the team’s 1-for-10 slate obviously wasn’t enough to keep them competitive, let alone steal a win. Brady Fielder is due to bounce back in a big way this weekend. Hell, most of the team is, mathematically speaking.
