CBS GAME OF THE WEEK SPOTLIGHT: This weekend, on Sunday, September 1, at Noon EDT, CBS Television Network will broadcast all the action from the Game of the Week between the No. 8 New York Mavericks (6-8) and the No. 7 Missouri Thunder (6-8). Missouri and New York squared off on the first day of the season in Oklahoma City in July, where the Thunder won easily, 174.75-0. The Mavericks have since started to find their stride, as after starting the season 0-4 the Empire State squad has gone 6-4 since, including going 2-1 in Austin, Texas, last weekend. Before losing to the No. 1 Carolina Cowboys, 429.25-88.75, courtesy of the league’s fourth perfect game, the Mavericks defeated the host No. 3 Austin Gamblers, 173-88.50, on Friday and the No. 9 Oklahoma Wildcatters, 174-85.75, Saturday night.

On the other side, the Missouri Thunder have been remarkably consistent after starting the season 1-4, never dropping or winning more than two games in a row. After a bye last Friday, the Thunder defeated the No. 4 Nashville Stampede, 174.75- 173.50, on a walk-off ride from Paulo Eduardo Rossetto, who enters their homestand 8-for-14 (57.1%) and is ranked No. 7 in the MVP standings. While Thunder captain Andrew Alvidrez had his four-out ride streak end on Sunday in a loss against the Gamblers, 177.75-0, the Texan has seemed to find his groove after starting the season 0-for-6.
