GAMBLER DAYS: PBR Teams: Gambler Days is the sixth of 12 regular-season events for the third PBR Camping World Team Series season. Competition will begin at 7:45 p.m. CDT on Friday, August 23, and Saturday, August 24, and conclude Sunday, August 25 at 1:45 p.m. CDT.
CBS GAME OF THE WEEK SPOTLIGHT: This weekend, on Sunday, August 25, at 2 p.m. EDT, CBS Television Network will broadcast all the action from the Game of the Week between the No. 8 Texas Rattlers (4-7) and the No. 4 Austin Gamblers (6-5) in a Texas Cup showdown. The two Lone Star State rivals first met in Sunrise, Florida, earlier this season, where the Gamblers downed the Rattlers, 259.50-175. Texas held the lead with one out to go, but back-to-back PBR Teams MVP Jose Vitor Leme topped Cooter Brown for 86.75 points to walk off the 2024 PBR Champions and give Austin a chance to seal the Texas Cup in front of their home fans at the Moody Center this weekend. After an uncharacteristically slow start as he returned from various lower body injuries that kept him from competing during the second half of the individual campaign, Leme has returned with a vengeance. The Brazilian superstar is currently No. 1 in the MVP race, holding an 86.75-point lead over rookie John Crimber.
The Rattlers finally bounced back in Nashville last weekend, ending a six-game losing streak with a flawless 2-0 performance in Music City featuring two walk-off rides from veteran Joao Ricardo Vieira. After a bye on Friday night, the Rattlers edged out the No. 10 New York Mavericks (4-7), 264.25-264, before downing the No. 5 Missouri Thunder (5-7), 174.75-87.50. With the two walk-off rides, the 40-year-old Vieira improved to 5-for-9 (55.6%) on the season and is currently No. 16 in the MVP standings.
