By Kacie Albert

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – As their first-ever PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Camping World Team Series homestand concluded Saturday night in Brooklyn, New York, the host New York Mavericks logged an electric upset win against Florida, beating the scoreless Freedom 85.75-0.

New York delivered what proved to be the game-winning ride in the third as Hudson Bolton rode Whip with ease. With neither team converting in the fourth, the Freedom faced a must-ride position in the top of the fifth, down by one score with one rider remaining. Their closer, and 2024 PBR Teams MVP frontrunner John Crimber, however, stumbled, bucking off Ridin’ Salty in 5.97 seconds to cement the Mavericks victory.

New York has now beaten Florida in both of their showdowns this season, first knocking off the Freedom one week prior at their homestand in Sunrise, Florida.

The Saturday night win led New York to conclude PBR Maverick Days a perfect 2-0, improving to 4-5 this season. While they began their homestand No. 10 in PBR Teams, they are now No. 8. The Freedom returned to Florida having gone 1-1 at the event, now 4-5 in 2024. Their efforts in New York led them to fall from No. 6 to No. 7 in the league.

For the ninth time in his career, Jose Vitor Leme propelled the Austin Gamblers to a walk-off win as his squad beat the Missouri Thunder by 44 points Saturday evening, 220.5-176.5.

With PBR’s animal athletes dominating the first three frames, Austin led 50-0 entering the fourth, electing to keep a second frame score from Callum Miller on Soul King, despite being offered a re-ride.

The electric showdown then concluded with four consecutive rides. In the top of the fourth, Missouri overtook the game lead by 38.25 points compliments of a much-needed score from Briggs Madsen. Austin, however, quickly overtook the top spot on the scoreboard by 47 points as Ramon de Lima rode Rank Frank.

The Thunder then faced a must-ride position as their closer Paulo Eduardo Rossetto settled in aboard Tijuana Two-Step. Delivering for his team, he posted an 88.25-point ride, putting Missouri back outfront by 41.25 points to put Austin in a must-ride position of their own. Riding in the high-pressure moment was their closer, Leme. The two-time PBR World Champion showed just why he was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the league’s inaugural Draft in 2022, riding The Judge for 85.25 points to deliver his ninth walk-off win to Austin.

The win led Austin to finish Maverick Days 1-0, improving to 5-3 in 2024. After beginning PBR Maverick Days No. 4 in PBR Teams, they rose to No. 2. The loss led Missouri to leave New York having gone 0-1, slipping to 3-6 in 2024 and falling from No. 8 to No. 9 in the league.

In a showdown of the PBR Teams league’s only two champions, the 2022 titleholding Nashville Stampede knocked off the reigning Champion Texas Rattlers in commanding form, beating them by four ride scores, 345.25-0.

Nashville’s 4-for-5 showing included 8-second efforts from Alan de Souza, Ednelio Almeida, Cody Teel and Silvano Alves to conclude the game.

The Stampede concluded PBR Maverick Days a perfect 2-0, improving to 5-4 this season, while the Rattlers were shut out inside Barclays Center, going 0-2 to slip to 2-7 this season. After travelling to New York No. 7 in the league, Nashville surged three spots to No. 4. The Rattlers, however, fell from No. 9 to No. 10.

The Kansas City Outlaws concluded their outing inside Barclays Center in winning form, beating the Arizona Ridge Riders, 172.5-86.75, in the duo’s first showdown of the season.

The Outlaws were propelled to victory courtesy of late-game scores from Brennon Eldred and Sandro Batista, which proved too much to overcome by Arizona’s lone scorer Eduardo Aparecido.

Via the win, the Outlaws concluded PBR Maverick Days with a 1-1 record, now 5-4 this season, remaining No. 3 in the league. The Ridge Riders returned to Arizona after being shut out in New York, going 0-2, now with a 4-5 record in 2024. The effort led them to slip from No. 5 to No. 6 in PBR Teams.

PBR Maverick Days then concluded with the Shootout Round, featuring one rider from each of the night’s victorious teams. Delivering a monster 91.25-point ride on John 14:6, the Gamblers’ Leme won the special round.
