Florida Freedom snap Kansas City Outlaws’ six-game win streak at PBR Teams: Thunder Days Saturday night

Ridge Riders, Mavericks and Cowboys also roll in Springfield.

By Andrew Hatfield

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – During the second night of action for PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Teams: Thunder Days, the Florida Freedom (7-8) ended the Kansas City Outlaws’ (10-5) six-game winning streak, 253.25-174.25, in the second game Saturday night.

Joao Henrique Lucas rode Black Ice for 86.5 points to set the tone for Florida in the game’s first out, and Alex Cerqueira built on that momentum, hanging on to Bottom’s Up for 83 points to nullify Sandro Batista’s 87.25-point outing on Homeboy. After the teams split two consecutive buck offs, Heitor Goiano rode House Fire for 87 points, but Elizmar Jeremias immediately responded on Cherry Bomb for 83.75 points to put Florida up for good.

Florida takes on the Austin Gamblers (8-7) Sunday afternoon while the Outlaws try to bounce back against the Nashville Stampede (7-8).

In the first game of the evening, the Arizona Ridge Riders (5-10) upset the Texas Rattlers (7-9), 261-172.75.

The Rattlers got another leadoff ride from Brady Fielder for 86.25 points on Bossed Up, but JaCauy Hale immediately negated Fielder’s ride by topping Booker’s Bandit for 87.50 points. After recording his 400th ride last night, Eduardo Aparecido converted once again, this time for 87.75 points on Black Tie. Luciano De Castro put the nail in the Rattlers’ coffin by riding Hoka Hey for 85.75 points in the bottom of the fourth.

While the Rattlers take the day off, the Arizona Ridge Riders attempt to keep it rolling against the New York Mavericks (7-8) on Sunday.

In the penultimate game of the evening, the Carolina Cowboys (12-1-1) bested the Oklahoma Wildcatters (6-9-1), 88.25-0.

Carolina’s Derek Kolbaba was the only rider to make the 8 in the contest, riding Top Shelf for 88.25 points in the bottom of the second to secure a victory for the Cowboys. The Mavericks face the Missouri Thunder (6-8) in the final contest in Springfield on Sunday.

In the final game Saturday night, the New York Mavericks downed the host Missouri Thunder, 168.75-83.25.

Leonardo Castro was the third of four riders to convert in the top of the first Saturday evening, riding Woody for 88 points, and that would be enough to hold off the Thunder’s Boudreaux Campbell, who was the only man to post a score for Missouri in Great Southern Bank Arena, riding Buffalo Chip for 83.25 points.

The Mavericks try to remain perfect in the Show Me State against the Ridge Riders while the Thunder try to salvage a win in front of their home fans against the league-leading Carolina Cowboys Sunday afternoon.

After four games of action, Florida’s John Crimber was the lone man to convert in the Shootout Round, riding Rip for 88.25 points to win the special round.

PBR Thunder Days concludes on Sunday, September 1, at 1:45 p.m. CT. Tickets are still available and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com and PBR.com, Great Southern Bank Arena Box Office, or by calling PBR customer service at 1-800-732-1727.

Ridge Riders Begin Second Night of Thunder Days with Upset Victory Over Rattlers

Texas Rattlers: 172.75 Arizona Ridge Riders: 261

In the first game of the PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Teams: Thunder Days second night of bull riding, the Arizona Ridge Riders (5-10) upset the Texas Rattlers (7-9), 261-172.75. For the second consecutive night, Brady Fielder got the Rattlers off to a hot start, riding Bossed Up for 86.25 points. Rookie JaCauy Hale had the chance to match for Arizona in the bottom of the first, storming out of the chutes on Bookers Bandit and giving the Ridge Riders the lead with an 87.50-point ride.

The defending PBR Teams Champions next rolled out Daniel Keeping to take back the lead and he came through, topping Killer Instinct for 86.50 points. After recording his 400th career ride in Great Southern Bank Arena last night, Eduardo Aparecido roared out of the gates aboard Black Tie and made the 8 once again, this time for 87.75 points. The Rattlers’ Shane Scott was tasked with extending the ride streak to five, but Sweet Moves bested the Oregonian in 3.97 seconds. Now with a chance to extend their lead in the bottom of the third, Bruno Carvalho surged out of the chutes on Big Chili.

The massive bovine competitor initially twisted left but gained the other hand by changing directions, bucking off Carvalho in 5.63 seconds. Looking to match his fellow Aussie teammate, Qynn Andersen attempted to ride Lapua, but the animal athlete extended the buckoff streak to three after 4.13 seconds. Luciano De Castro took on Hoka Hey in the bottom of the fourth frame and extended Arizona’s lead with an 85.75-point ride. Now in a must ride situation, the Texas Rattlers put their trust in closer Joao Ricardo Vieira. The 40-year-old cowboy made the 8 for the second-consecutive night for Texas, posting 81.75 points, but it wasn’t enough to give his team the lead. However, they were offered a re-ride opportunity, and Vieira marched back to the top of the chutes to hop on Levy.

This time, the animal athlete bested the grizzled veteran in 2.04 seconds, leaving the Ridge Riders victorious. Keyshawn Whitehorse ended the game by bucking off Peterbilt in 4.16 seconds in the bottom of the final frame. In Saturday night's second game, the Florida Freedom (7-8) defeated the Kansas City Outlaws (10-5) at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Camping World Team Series’ first Saturday in Springfield, Missouri. Next up, the Outlaws’ leadoff man Sandro Batista made the 8 for his fourth consecutive out, giving Kansas City the lead with an 87.25-point ride on Homeboy. Veteran Alex Cerqueira next attempted to give Florida back the lead on Bottom’s Up and barely hung on, scoring 83 points.

A perfect 2-for-2 to start his PBR Teams career, Maikon Calixto Rocha was next to go for the red-hot Outlaws. Unfortunately for the rookie, John 14:6 proved too much for him, bucking him off after 7.13 seconds. Afonso Quintino next had a chance to extend Florida’s lead on Bootlegger, but the elite animal athlete never gave him a chance in the Brazilian’s first start, bucking him off in 4.46 seconds. Paired with Cherry Bomb, Elizmar Jeremias rocketed out of the chutes and converted for 83.75 points. Head Coach Paulo Crimber declined the re-ride opportunity, putting the pressure back on the Show Me State squad.

Steelville, Missouri, native Bob Mitchell was next to ride for the Outlaws, but Fabio committed a chute foul and a successful challenge granted Kansas City a re-ride. 19-year-old John Crimber looked to continue to pour on the pressure, but he was bested by Whiskey Business in a heartbreaking 7.86 seconds. Mirroring the 2024 PBR World Finals, Cassio Dias followed Crimber, but he was similarly dispatched by Don’t Come Easy in 4.86 seconds. Koltin Hevalow was chosen to take the re-ride for Kansas City, and the Missourian roared out of the chutes on Caesar. Mauney elected to take the offered re-ride opportunity and wipe the score off the board. Carolina star Adriano Salgado now had an opportunity to put the Cowboys up two ride scores in the bottom of the third, but he was immediately flipped head-over-horns by My Bad in 1.82 seconds. Still looking to put points on the board for Oklahoma, Hayden Harris thundered out of the gate on Electric Kitty but was flung off in 5.32 seconds.
