FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 70th iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Guilherme Valleiras (Pirassununga, Brazil) went 1-for-2 to win the event title for the second consecutive Thursday.
A member of the Austin Gamblers in the separate PBR Camping World Team Series, Valleiras roared out of the chutes on Shoeless Joe (JD Nix Rodeo Co.) for an event-high 86 points to win the opening round.
Looking to put the event buckle out of reach, Valleiras attempted to cover Page 47H (D&H Cattle Company) in Round 2 but was bucked off after 3.24 seconds.
The victory netted Valleiras 46 Challenger Global points.
In a mirror of last Thursday’s action inside Cowtown Coliseum, veteran Claudio Montanha Jr. (Ribeirao dos Indios, Brazil) finished second behind Valleiras.
The Brazilian thundered out of the gate on Elkins 787 (Philip Elkins) for 83.5 points in the opening round.
Now in a position to take the top spot on the podium, Montanha initially sat tall atop Page 91J (D&H Cattle Company) but was thrown to the dirt after 4.12 seconds.
The silver finish earned the 35-year-old cowboy a critical 33 Challenger Global points.
Third place belonged to Andrei Scoparo (Assis Chateaubriand, Brazil).
Drafted by the Nashville Stampede in the 2024 PBR Team Series New Rider Draft, Scoparo got off to a strong start, topping Elkins 876 (Philip Elkins) for 82.5 points.
In search of his second event buckle of the season inside Cowtown Coliseum, Scoparo rocketed out of the chutes on Viducic 88H (Viducic Bucking Bulls) but was unseated after 2.73 seconds.
The bronze finish garnered the Brazilian 22 Challenger Global points.
Right on Scoparo’s spurs was Lucas Fideles Souza (Barnstable, Massachusetts), who finished fourth.
After a fifth-place finish last week inside Cowtown, the Commonwealth cowboy climbed one spot in this week’s event standings by riding Nix 9461 (JD Nix Rodeo Co.) for 82 points in the opening round.
Looking to catapult further up the leaderboard, Souza stormed out of the chutes on Page 120H (D&H Cattle Company) in Round 2 but was flung to the dirt after 3.37 seconds.
The fourth-place finish earned Souza 18 Challenger Global points.
The final qualified ride of the evening belonged to Alfonso Quintino (Sao Luis dos Montes Belos, Brazil).
He declined a re-ride and kept his 57-point score on Elkins 78 (Philip Elkins) in Round 1 but was unable to capitalize in his final out, bucking off Big Talker (Viducic Bucking Bulls) in 2.73 seconds to end his bid for an event title.
The 1-for-2 performance and fifth-place finish secured Quintino seven Challenger Global points.
Challenger Global points contribute to the Challenger Global Standings. The Top 40 at the end of the season compete in the PBR Challenger Series Championship in Las Vegas, held alongside the PBR Teams Championship. A select number of riders from the top of the 2024 Challenger Global Standings will receive a berth to the elite 2025 Unleash The Beast.
In the bull pen, Hoof Stock Genetics Mud Train (Canyon Oaks/JD Nix) was marked 44 points for his 1.95-second buckoff of Arthur Antonialle (Sao Jose do Rio Pardo, Brazil) to take home the Bull of the Event title.
The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, August 15. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
