Starting lineups, draw revealed for 2024 PBR Teams: Duluth

Rested, reloaded and ready to go – What will Week 2 have in store?

By James Youness

PUEBLO, Colo. – The PBR Camping World Team Series is set to make its debut in Duluth, Georgia, this weekend after drawing sellout crowds during several of PBR’s Unleash The Beast recent stops.

So, when we say riders are going to enjoy a next-level environment, should they provide some fireworks, we meant it.

Coming off an early-season bye week as the tour prepares to embark on 11-straight weeks of PBR Teams showdowns, this weekend’s slate is set to feature plenty of crowd-pleasing efforts as the 5-on-5 series gets back in the swing of things Friday night.

While the drama begins with an opening night duel between the (1-1) Texas Rattlers and (1-1) Florida Freedom, it’s hard not to turn our attention to the second game of the evening.

Which happens to feature the year one (0-3) New York Mavericks and (0-2) Austin Gamblers. Enduring a bit of a rough start, the Gamblers will look to take care of business against the only team which currently sits below them in the league standings.

Two or three games don’t make or break the season. But neither team is excited about an early-campaign losing streak, so they’ll be doing all they can to ride the skid.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the No. 3 Kansas City Outlaws are looking to stay perfect during a matchup against the Nashville Stampede.

And perhaps the heaviest-hitting game of the night, which features a pair of undefeated squads in the (2-0) Carolina Cowboys and the (2-0) Arizona Ridge Riders, will close out night one action down south.

Likely with some big rides and even bigger celebrations.

Of course, teams are going to be looking at each and every game as the end all, be all in real time, as wins are much more fun, and the ultimate goal at the end of the day.

Reality leans towards winning some and losing some, however, and then it’s time to press the reset button and prepare for the next matchup.

But knowing how close teams have been in the standings at the end of the 2022 and 2023 regular season sessions, it showcases just important how each game is on its own.

You can’t win or lose the season in Week 2.

But you sure can breathe some life into your squad after a rough start. Or really put your team in a good spot to secure a spot inside T-Mobile Arena for the 2024 PBR Teams Championship.

Either way, the lights are shining bright this weekend inside Gas South Arena. We just have to see who steps up and wants it most, 10 rides at a time.

2024 PBR Camping World Team Series Standings: 1. Carolina Cowboys (2-0) 2. Arizona Ridge Riders (2-0) 3. Kansas City Outlaws (2-0) 4. Oklahoma Wildcatters (2-1) 5. Florida Freedom (1-1) 6. Texas Rattlers (1-1) 7. Nashville Stampede (1-2) 8. Missouri Thunder (1-2) 9. Austin Gamblers (0-2) 10. New York Mavericks (0-3)

As coaches have officially submitted their respective lineups for the second of 12 regular season showdowns, we’re taking a closer look at Friday night’s matchups, rematches and beyond, with some additional game preview insights, latest team transactions and everything you need to know ahead of the weekend’s first four action-packed games!

With the 5-on-5 circuit set to resume action in Duluth, Georgia, let’s break down the starting lineups for Friday night’s competition inside Gas South Arena (With coverage set to begin at 9 p.m. EST via Merit Street Media).

PBR TEAMS: DULUTH STARTING LINEUPS *Denotes a rematch

(1-1) Texas Rattlers vs. (1-1) Florida Freedom Brady Oleson vs. I’ll Make Ya Famous Caden Bunch vs. Tootsie Pop Marcelo Procopio Pereira vs. Black 6 Joao Lucas Campos vs. Beef Cake Jesse Petri vs. Great Balls of Fire Trey Benton III vs. Workin’ Man Brady Fielder vs. Buzz Elizmar Jeremias vs. Levy *Daniel Keeping vs. Washita Red John Crimber vs. Bandito Bug REMATCHES Daniel Keeping vs. Washita Red (2.28 seconds in Fort Worth, Texas; 4.49 seconds in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma)

Rattlers vs. Freedom Game Preview Entering Week 2 directly next to each other in the league standings, both the Florida Freedom and Texas Rattlers bring matching 1-1 records into Gas South Arena after splitting their contests during the season-opening showdown in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Yet, a closer look at each team’s combined aggregate score after Week 1 shows two very different ways to get to said records.

The Freedom, who were unfortunately handed a loss during their season-opening, four-ride game against the Carolina Cowboys, got back in the saddle on Sunday and managed to out-produce the Nashville Stampede en route to racking up another pair of qualified rides. Netting six over the course of its first two contests, Florida is up to 517.5 points, roughly averaging 2.5 conversions per contest. With John Crimber set to endure his second-ever weekend of PBR Teams action in Duluth, Georgia, and Elizmar Jeremias off to a hot start, currently pacing the league atop the PBR Teams MVP standings, the red, white and blue squad should be able to pick up another win or two this weekend if Caden Bunch and supporting crew can add in 8 seconds here or there.

As far as the Rattlers are concerned, who managed to rack up just 261.25 points throughout their pair of contests, they’ll need to hear the buzzer a few more times than in Week 1 should they want to keep their Championship reputation above water. Combining for just three qualified rides during their two games, Texas saw all three of the conversions come during their Saturday night showdown against the Missouri Thunder after suffering a no-score effort on Friday. Thankfully for Cody Lambert, he watched on as Brady Fielder, Joao Ricardo Vieira and Marcelo Procopio Pereira turn things around in Game 2. But if the Rattlers want to find themselves dancing at the 2024 PBR Teams Championship this fall, they’ll need to consistently produce two to three rides per game. Something they didn’t have a problem with in 2023. We could see this one going either way, honestly, but will roll with the Freedom, as they’ve got the league-leader as things sit currently!

(0-3) New York Mavericks vs. (0-2) Austin Gamblers *Dalton Kasel vs. Mighty Mike Leandro Machado vs. Snuggles Ezekiel Mitchell vs. Dark Thoughts Braidy Randolph vs. Coco Kaique Pacheco vs. Mr. Nightlinger Mauricio Gulla Moreira vs. Manaba Ramon de Lima vs. Coach Davi Henrique de Lima vs. Wishful Thinking Jose Vitor Leme vs. Shivers Ernie Courson vs. Come Apart REMATCHES Dalton Kasel vs. Mighty Mike (1.47 seconds in Sioux Falls, North Dakota) Mauricio Gulla Moreira vs. Manaba (1.75 seconds in Billings, Montana; 5.03 seconds in Fort Worth, Texas) TRANSACTIONS The New York Mavericks placed Romario Leite on the Reserve Roster. The New York Mavericks placed Davi Henrique da Lima on the Reserve Roster. The New York Mavericks placed Vitor Losnake on Injured Reserve. The New York Mavericks signed Leandro Henrique Machado to the Protected Roster. The New York Mavericks signed Ernie Courson to the Reserve Roster. Mavericks vs. Gamblers Game Preview The bad news for each of these squads entering Week 2? They’re both winless, as the (0-3) New York Mavericks stumbled a bit during their first-ever showcase, while the ever-talented Austin Gamblers suffered a rare 0-2 start in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The good news? One of the two contingents will exit the Friday night fight with their first victory of the season!

Of course, most expected the Mavericks to need some time to get everybody on the same page as a year one organization. But with plenty of talent in the locker room, we would’ve expected the indigo and red unit to look a little more competitive in Week 1. That, unfortunately, wasn’t the case, as the team is occupying the No. 10 spot in the league standings. Which also means there’s only one direction for Kody Lostroh, Ednei Caminhas and company to go: UP! Fans can look for the expansion squad to string a few together this weekend. But that won’t keep Jose Vitor Leme and the Gamblers from giving their all. They’ll likely need at least two, if not three, conversions to get earn win No. 1. And with Austin looking very mortal after an odd start, it’s very possible this could be the game! Losing Vitor Losnake for some time due to a lower-body injury sustained last weekend doesn’t help their odds, though.

Plus, we aren’t in the business of betting against Leme, let alone teammates in Kaique Pacheco and Dalton Kasel. At the same time, the trio has combined for just a 2-for-6 start, which includes a pair of uncharacteristic attempts from 2018 World Champion in Pacheco. While there were plenty of question marks surrounding the condition in which both Pacheco and Leme would return to the summer slate in, it didn’t appear that either of the veterans were struggling with health heading into the matchup. But seeing both Leme and Pacheco endure unideal dismounts during their unsuccessful outs, Michael Gaffney can only hope his heavy-hitting cowboys are ready to find the win column on Friday night.

We’ll take the Gamblers to squeak this one out.

(1-2) Nashville Stampede vs. (2-0) Kansas City Outlaws *Koltin Hevalow vs. Arctic Lights Ednelio Almeida vs. My Bad Sandro Batista vs. Abracadabra Mason Taylor vs. Cowtown Slim Julio Cesar Marques vs. Electric Kitty Alan de Souza vs. Flint Stone Bob Mitchell vs. Body Roc Kaiden Loud vs. Big Hawk Cassio Dias vs. Desperado Silvano Alves vs. Woody REMATCHES Koltin Hevalow vs. Arctic Lights (7.79 seconds in Chicago, Illinois) TRANSACTIONS The Kansas City Outlaws placed Wingson Henrique da Silva on the Injured Reserve List. The Kansas City Outlaws placed Brennon Eldred on the Protected Roster. The Nashville Stampede placed Chase Outlaw on Injured Reserve. The Nashville Stampede placed Ednelio Almeida on the Protected Roster. Stampede vs. Outlaws Game Preview Friday’s lineup of games is littered with close calls as teams remain eager to collect as many early-season wins as they can. Knowing the 2022 PBR Teams Champion Nashville Stampede have already experienced all that comes with being crowned the tour’s top dawgs means they join the Texas Rattlers in staying hungry to return to Las Vegas for another chance at the title. But if there’s a team who’s just as hungry, it’s the one J.W. Hart coaches.

The ”Outlaw Attitude” has been established for quite some time now. And as the Kansas City Outlaws continue to fine-tune their roster to ensure they have guys who are willing to give their all, and then some, it’s only fitting that Lane Frost’s No. 1 fan in Cassio Dias (the modern-day Iron Man, himself) is set to lead the orange and black unit to greatness in 2024. Fresh off his World Championship, he’s the most-anticipated cowboy in the arena every time PBR puts on a show these days. And if his partner in Koltin Hevalow can keep lining them up and knocking them down, the Outlaws will have a 1-2 punch to be reckoned with. Wild card Sandro Batista, who’s been staying busy via some additional Challenger Series action, could prove to be another big piece for the Outlaws as well. Especially after the team placed Wingson Henrique da Silva on the team’s Injured Reserve this week.

Able to secure their first win of the season inside Paycom Center courtesy of some Mason Taylor-led heroics, the Stampede will need more out of their guys Friday night if they hope to keep pace with their night one opponent. Which could be in the cards, as Nashville and Kansas City both posted a combined five qualified rides during the opening weekend. A closer look reveals that the Stampede participated in one more game than the Outlaws, too, but were able to secure at least one qualified ride in each of the three games. So, there’s something to be said about a consistent effort, especially during a weekend where several teams turned in zero rides during their respective performances. Depending on how well Kaiden Loud’s wrist is healed up and what version of Alan de Souza shows up, Nashville could even their record at 2-2, no doubt. But, just as we won’t bet against Leme too often, it’s hard not to side with Dias and his Outlaws in this one. (2-0) Carolina Cowboys vs. (2-0) Arizona Ridge Riders Eli Vastbinder vs. Norse God Cooper Davis vs. Boomerang Eduardo Aparecido vs. Boujee Boy Derek Kolbaba vs. Ghost Face JaCauy Hale vs. Punchy Pete Adriano Salgado vs. Air Marshall Keyshawn Whitehorse vs. Slingin' It Daylon Swearingen vs. Stryker Luciano De Castro vs. Hood Rat Sage Steele Kimzey vs. Creek

Cowboys vs. Ridge Riders Game Preview The PBR Teams: Duluth schedule was made a good month or two back, just like each of the other 11 regular season events. But if there was a night one matchup that we’d vote to save for the grandest of finale dances, this would be it, 100%. Featuring two of the league’s three undefeated teams, this game should be full of electric outs!

Knowing the Cowboys completed the season’s first perfect game courtesy of a flashy 5-for-5 win over the Freedom in Week 1 means Jerome Davis will have the boys itching to achieve the rare feat once more when they stare down the Arizona Ridge Riders on Friday night. Bringing one of the most-talented units into Gas South Arena as they look to knock off the black and white squad on their way to what would be a favorable 3-0 start, can color commentators turned bull riders in Sage Steele Kimzey and Cooper Davis keep the hot start going? If Adriano Salgado (who earned a spot on the team’s Reserve Roster after his Week 1 greatness) can add in another 90-pointer and Derek Kolbaba can continue his spicy return with another 8, they should be able to take care of Arizona.

However, the Ridge Riders are bringing their own 2-0 record to the table during the opening night finale, along with one of the deeper rosters, top to bottom, in the league. With five different members of the Colby Yates-coached group able to find the buzzer in Week 1, their depth was on display. But it’s ultimately Keyshawn Whitehorse who will need to continue his flawless start (2-for-2) if Arizona wants to knock off the hottest team on tour.

Given the fact we just saw Carolina turn in the impressive 5-for-5 showing, we’ll lean towards the checkered flag squad in this one. But we wouldn’t be shocked if Arizona advances to 3-0, either.

Friday Night Bye Games: Missouri Thunder, Oklahoma Wildcatters
