PBR (Professional Bull Riders) is coming to The Steel City.
The world’s leading bull riding organization will hold its first event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, when the Unleash The Beast tour stampedes into PPG Paints Arena January 24-25.
While PBR has held successful top-tier events throughout the state of Pennsylvania, it will be the sport’s first visit to Pittsburgh – the 10th event of the 23-event 2025 regular season.
“We are very excited to finally bring PBR’s elite tour to Pittsburgh,” said PBR CEO and Commissioner Sean Gleason. “Over the years, we’ve had consistent success throughout the region and state of Pennsylvania entertaining very passionate Western sports fans, and we look forward to seeing the world’s most talented bull riders and remarkable animal athletes providing more thrills inside PPG Paints Arena.”
In 2023, PBR sold out a three-day elite tour event in Johnstown at 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial.
Previously, the premier series tour had competed in Philadelphia in 2003, 2004 and 2012; in Allentown in 2014 and 2015; and in Reading in 2006.
Several bull riders now competing at PBR’s elite level have grown up in Pennsylvania, including Braidy Randolph (Jonestown, Pennsylvania) and Grayson Cole (New Ringgold, Pennsylvania).
One of PBR’s top stock contractors, Mike Miller, operates Mike Miller Bucking Bulls based in Jersey Shore, PA.
The organization anticipates the Pittsburgh event in the home of the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins will contribute a total economic impact of $11.4 million, including spending on ticket sales, lodging, food, beverage, retail and local attractions.
