FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 68th iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Andrei Scoparo (Assis Chateaubriand, Brazil) went a perfect 2-for-2 to win the event title.
A rider for the Nashville Stampede on the separate PBR Camping World Team Series, Scoparo rocketed out of the chutes on Crash Course (Carr Pro Rodeo) for 83.5 points in Round 1.
Positioned third heading into the final round, the Brazilian managed to hang on to CMSR 30 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 81 points to catapult up the standings.
Scoparo’s first event title in the United States netted the cowboy a critical 52 Challenger Global points.
The highest marked ride of the evening belonged to Andy Bohl (St. Cloud, Florida), who finished second.
After being unseated by Sugar (Cannon Cattle Co) in 4.36 seconds in Round 1, the Missouri Thunder's Bohl thundered out of the gates aboard Little Champ (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for a round-winning, event-high 87 points to seize a spot on the podium.
The Floridian returned home with 36 Challenger Global points for his efforts Thursday evening.
In third place was Maikon Calixto Rocha (Orindiuva, Brazil), who also went 1-for-2.
A first-round pick by the Kansas City Outlaws in the 2024 PBR Camping World Team Series New Rider Draft, Rocha was bucked off by White Trash (Carr Pro Rodeo) in a heartbreaking 7.62 seconds in Round 1.
Undeterred, the young rider roared back in Round 2, topping Here To Party (Stockyards/Pritchett Ranch/Melton Bull Co) for 86 points to rise to third in the event standings.
The bronze finish, his third Top 3 finish of the 2024 Challenger campaign, netted Rocha a critical 23 Challenger Global points to secure the No. 13 spot in the Challenger Global standings entering the weekend.
Guilherme Valleiras (Pirassununga, Brazil) finished fourth Thursday night.
The Austin Gamblers’ reserve rider won the opening round courtesy of an 85-point ride on Cash On Black (Campbell Cattle Co/Cannon Cattle Co).
Looking for his first event win of the season, Valleiras shot out the gate on Free Ride (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) but was unseated after 5.74 seconds.
The 1-for-2 performance garnered the Brazilian 23 Challenger Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 was Valleiras’ Austin teammate, Lucas Divino (Nova Crixas, Brazil).
The veteran finished right on his teammate’s spurs in Round 1, covering Smokin Again (Carr Pro Rodeo) for 84.5 points.
In Round 2, Divino was unable to make the 8 on CMSR 803 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo), losing the rope after 6.57 seconds.
Divino netted 18 Challenger Global points for his 1-for-2 performance inside Cowtown Coliseum.
Challenger Global points contribute to the Challenger Global Standings and the Top 40 at the end of the season compete in the PBR Challenger Series Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada, held alongside the PBR Teams Championship. A select number of riders from the top of the 2024 Challenger Global Standings will receive a berth to the elite 2025 Unleash The Beast.
In the bull pen, Magic Fire (Martinez Bucking Bulls, LLC) was marked 44 points for his 1.93-second buck off of Paulo H. da Silva (Britania, Brazil) to take home the Bull of the Event title.
The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, August 1. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
