FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 67th iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Lance Lara (Snook, Texas) won the event after a crucial Round 2 ride.

In Round 1, the 19-year-old cowboy roared out of the chutes on BRLR (Risen Cattle Co/Blue Ridge) but was dislodged after 4.08 seconds.

Undeterred, the Texan rebounded in the final round, topping Elkins 973 (Philip Elkins) for an event-high 85.5 points.

The event victory garnered Lara a critical 46 Challenger Global points.

In second place was Claudio Montanha Jr. (Ribeirao dos Indios, Brazil).

The veteran was bucked off by House of Fire (Flinn Cattle Co) in 4.38 seconds in Round 1 but would not be deterred in Round 2.

Matched with Elkins 0846 (Philip Elkins), Montanha thundered out of the chutes for 82.5 points to seize a spot on the podium.

He left Cowtown Coliseum with 33 Challenger Global points.

The final qualified ride of the evening belonged to Eduardo Matos (Emilianopolis, Brazil), who finished third.

A rider for the Oklahoma Wildcatters on the separate PBR Camping World Team Series, Matos rallied back after being bucked off Come Apart (Flinn Cattle Co) in 3.88 seconds.

In the final round, the Brazilian hung on to Elkins 117 (Philip Elkins) for 82 points to take third.

The bronze finish netted the Brazilian cowboy 22 Challenger Global points.

Challenger Global points contribute to the Challenger Global Standings and the Top 40 at the end of the season compete in the PBR Challenger Series Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada, held alongside the PBR Teams Championship. A select number of riders from the top of the 2024 Challenger Global Standings will receive a berth to the elite 2025 Unleash The Beast.

In the bull pen, BRLR 71J (Risen Cattle Co/Blue Ridge) and CMSR 084 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo)were both marked 44 points for their buckoffs to split the Bull of the Event title.

The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, July 25. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
