FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 63rd iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Dustin Herman (Dudley Shoals, North Carolina) was the only rider to go a perfect 2-for-2 to win his first Challenger Series event.
The North Carolinian roared out of the gates in Round 1, hanging on to CMSR 005 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 81.5 points to win the first round.
In position to take home the event buckle, Herman sat tall aboard Hammer Down (Mike Johnson) for an event-high 88 points in Round 2.
The victory netted the 23-year-old cowboy a critical 62 Challenger Global points.
In second place was Braidy Randolph (Stephenville, Texas), who went 1-for-2.
The gritty Texan battled back after bucking off Ghost Face (Bierema Rodeo Inc./Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) in 1.71 seconds in Round 1, riding Elkins 737 (Philip Elkins) for 86 points in the final round to skyrocket up the leaderboard.
The silver finish netted the 2023 PBR Teams Champion Texas Rattlers rider 33 Challenger Global points.
Rounding out the qualified rides for the evening were Elizmar Jeremias (Anapu, Brazil) and Bruno Carvalho (Alvares Florence, Brazil), who finished tied for third.
Jeremias, a rider for the Florida Freedom who had a breakout season on the separate PBR Camping World Team Series in 2023, rode Sweet Memories (JD Nix Rodeo Co) for 80.5 points in Round 1. He was matched by Carvalho, who covered Blood Money (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) for 80.5 points of his own.
Both riders were unable to make the 8 in the final round, as Jeremias was thrown off Hot Cheetah (Mike Johnson) in 5.44 seconds, and Carvalho was dispatched by Elkins 038 (Philip Elkins) in 6.38 seconds.
Both riders left Cowtown Coliseum with 21 Challenger Global points.
Challenger Global points contribute to the Challenger Global Standings and the Top 40 at the end of the season compete in the PBR Challenger Series Championship in Las Vegas, held alongside the PBR Teams Championship. A select number of riders from the top of the 2024 Challenger Global Standings will receive a berth to the elite 2025 Unleash The Beast.
In a rank bull pen that allowed just five rides, Baller (Mike Johnson) was marked a solid 45 points for his second-round buckoff of Leonardo Lima (Vale do Paraiso, Brazil) in 4.98 seconds to take home the Bull of the Event title.
The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, June 13. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
