MILL SPRING, N.C. – At the picturesque Tryon International in Mill Spring, North Carolina, Friday night, Dustin Herman (Dudley Shoals, North Carolina) rode supreme, winning Round 1 and surging to an early event lead at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Challenger Series’ PBR Tryon.

Herman was tasked with Ice Box (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls) in the opening round of competition.

Bursting from the chutes, Herman remained in perfect time with his powerful animal athlete opponent, reaching the requisite 8 for an unmatched 85.5 points.

In addition to earning him the round win, Herman’s score also garnered him a crucial 38 Challenger Global points in the race for the 2024 PBR Challenger Series Championship.

Jesse Petri (Dublin, Texas) was second, netting 28 Challenger Global points.

Petri teamed with Wolverine (Cornwell Bucking Bulls) for an 80.5-point score.

As the final rider to reach the whistle in Round 1 of PBR Tryon, Cody McCandless (Derry, Pennsylvania) was third.

The young Pennsylvanian topped Redneck Rumble (Dave Martin/Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 79.5 points to earn 21 Challenger Global points.

PBR’s bovine athletes dominated in Round 1, allowing just three qualified rides in 35 attempts, delivering a torrid 91.42% buckoff rate.

Black Squirrel (Dave Martin/Mike Miller Bucking Bulls), Eyes On Me (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls), Chain Up (Blake Sharp/Scott Fritts) and Cowtown Slim (Blake Sharp) led the rank pen of animal athletes, delivering 43.5-point bull scores.
